Why are we so interested in Traylor when....

This may not tell the whole story but Robinson in only 9 seasons (compared to 12 by Traylor) has more tackles (270) and sacks (17.5) then Traylor does.

different roles. Traylor is a guy who is supposed to just take on blockers. Robinson is a guy who plays both DE and DT.

whats wrong with keith traylor. rb's cant go straight up the middle when hes there, all he has to do is stand there and they have to waste time by going around him. he'd be a great tackle in the 3-4 scheme and he's not asking for much money. the ideal tackle in a 3-4 is a big fat guy thats supposed to take up the place of two tackles, and traylor fits the mold of big fat guy, hes been very productive throughout his career and the price is right.

I wonder how much he has left and how many plays he can give us per game. I don't know but if he can only give us 10-20 snaps per game, I don't know if I'd want to sign him. I'd rather give a younger guy a chance to play 10-20 snaps per game.

Simply put, we're interested in him because last year we were abysmal at defending the run. Traylor is a beast. This guy clogs the middle and is very difficult to move, not just because he's fat but because he's strong and plays with great skill. Putting him next to Larry Chester, with Carter and Taylor on the edges, gives us an advantage against most offensive lines.

Just because, statisically he's not as good as Bryan Robinson doesn't mean he's not MUCH MUCH better than him, because he is.

If we can get him, and he really is as cheap as people think, it would be a great move...

we have a good enough DLine as it is, why waste the money?
Having a "Good enough" D-Line is not what we want. We want a great D-Line. We may be strong at DE, but we are a little weak at the DT position. Sure Kevin Carter will probably see a lot of time at DT, but the other spot is a big question mark. Timbo doesn't look like he might even play this year, and Chester is also coming back from a nasty injury. While Traylor is a little over the hill, he could help us hold down the fort for a year or two while Saban develops young talent. Traylor would be an upgrade and not a waste of money because of the questionable status of Chester and Bowens.

the funniest play ever with Keith Traylor i heard about...was a few years ago for the Bears he got himself an INT and ran it back for a td i beleive...sounds like what Sam Adams and Pat Williams did 2 years ago or last year

nothing cooler than seeing a fat guy score a touchdown...and from the words of John Madden on "The Replacements"..."After a fat guy scores a touchdown... you get a fat guy Touchdown Celebration"

Traylor would be a good pick up, we need a good DT if we are gonna use the
3 - 4 more. By the way do any of you know how old he is?
