Why CBS not nationally televising game....

Well, we'll get more time to prep for the Saints game. Plus, look at it this way. How was the regular routine working for us that last couple of weeks? Maybe we needed a shaking up.

Take care Florida. :)

yea, we've already seen how well we prepare with extra time...

I am thinking seriously of dropping my Directv. This is insane. I get screwed twice in a row since they showed our game here locally which means its not on NFL ticket, then they cut the game off locally cus they moved to the steelers game. Getting screwed by Paul "big money" Tagliabue.

here is a quote on yahoo......

The game will be televised by CBS affiliates in primary secondary markets in South Florida and Kansas City. But there will be no national telecast.

"We are not extending the telecast to more markets because we want to adhere as closely as possible to the spirit of our longstanding policy not to conflict with high school and college football during their seasons [which means Friday night and Saturday]," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said.

someone tell me.....what the Phins game has to do with high school football.....now I know most high school games are Friday night at 7ish...but come on....
Also...this whole Friday game.....man...im just getting over sundays loss....hit me with another loss now...and im dead....be like 10 days before we play again.... im all flustered...trying to figure out if this helps or hurts us....im dying here.....go phins....

While it sucks for us fans, particularly those who don't live in the SF or KC area, it's part of the antitrust settlement from years back. They are required to do this as part of the settlement. I doubt that anyone would "reopen the antitrust" case just because of this situation, but you have to give them credit for sticking to the spirit of the ruling...

Yeah, I can understand that since there are sooooo many high school football games on TV.
It's a stupid excuse , but I accept it. However, there is no excuse for Direct TV not to show the game since those who receive the service are paid subscribers. This will be may last season paying for that over priced package.

Wait...I thought it was being replayed on Sunday ?? Has that changed ???

NFL games going to be played on Jan. 1st going head-to-head with bowl games... sounds like BS to me!

The antitrust ruling is based on NFL games being broadcast on Fri and Sat nights prior to the Thanksgiving weekend. After that time, they can broadcast games at any time, which is why there are Saturday games during December...

Your right you don't understand marketing.

No one said the game could'nt happen.
It is happening. :shakeno:

Secondly, When the Saints and Giants played on ESPN it was done as a "donation" by the NFL to air a telethon for disaster relief funds.

Secondly, advertisers on ESPN are already buying sports programming and footballs audience kinda matches sports programming audiences don't ya think?

A little different when your talking prime time TV audiences of specific shows versus audiences of football programming.

Plus it was on MONDAY nite, no conflict with High School or College, NFL already has football on Monday nite.

the NFL.com site says that the game will be aired on sun oct 23, on NFL network, directv chan 212, at a time to be determined...... does anyone know what time they're gonna air it?

I hear it will be aired at the 1pm on 706 on Direct TV, and NFL Network later in the day at a time TBA.

lol, what's so hard to accept that the NFL doesn't want to be on the same time as high school/college games? it's like that in every pro sport. they don't want to step on any feet, or "bite the hand that feeds them" i guess

Thats fine, but why cant they make an exception? Its not like a hurricane is going to disprupt games all the time. They dont care about the fans, period. All about money.

Also, if they allowed Direct TV to show it, it would be like pay-per-view since only people who shelled out $200 for the package would be able to see it. Whats the big deal?

I think the NFL network should show the game live. After all, it is the NFL.

OMG i totally agree.i got nfl network free with my cable package but i still dont wach it because i just think its a terrible waste of time...i dont want to watch a rebroadcast....i know the outcome, i dont wanna watch any of thier shows up until they start talking about the weeks games...that channel is garbage and a waste of time....now for an NFL NETWORK to be put at use is to play live games sometimes....and this would be a perfect oppertunity for them to step up where CBS has lost thier testicular fortitude and air the game...but i noticed that the NFL has been castrated already since they only want to stream AUDIO from their website...
