Why Daniels Over Orton?

Orton has some things about him, despite what Ron Jaworski said during the draft, that don't project well to the NFL.

He's got good size and a good arm, but he's got a long throwing motion and very slow release. His footwork isn't that great in the pocket, and he's accustomed to an offense where he played predominately in the shot gun set while throwing nothing but short passes.

Conversely, Travis Daniels is a player that Nick Saban knows very well. Nick wants his cornerbacks to have good size, long arms, good smarts, and great ball skills. Travis Daniels has these qualities. There are a lot of people that will not be surprised to see Daniels start in Miami before long.

Drafting cornerbacks will be something some of you are going to have to get used to. Nick Saban is a big secondary guy, and he's going to take a cornerback in every draft guaranteed.

The Pats always seem to have someone ready to step in when their starter gets injured or becomes too expensive to keep.IMO thats the way to do it in todays cap strapped environment.

Good arm? I hope your not talking about strength because Orton doesn't have it.

He will be serviceable. Trust me as some one who has seen most of LSU's games for the last 4 years Saban had a stable of good corners during his tenure here

I think so too. Did you see that stat about NE the other day? I think it was something like 11 CBs drafted since 2000.
