Why did Miami Keep AJ?

Honestly it makes no sense. If he was 2nd string then keep him but if you're demoting him to 3rd it just leaves you scratching your head. Hopefully Saban isnt stuck in some college coach motivational trick. That bull might work in college but not in the pros.

Please stop the Couch madness. The guy already proved that he sucks. Didn't he??? I thought he did. Better than AJ? I don't know, but what does it matter if we have a better than AJ 3rd string QB? All QB's on the roster and Couch suck. Get someone who can start, not who can backup the backup.

AJ can't handle pressure, so he can't can't handle tight games situations..
He handles NE pretty good last year.

Why would you cut him? If you need a 3rd QB then you have someone who is familar with the offense. Cutting AJ this year at this point would be asinine.

For all we know the demotion to 3rd is nothing more then Saban trying to send him a message.

They may be trying to trade him. If they cant, then he'll get cut and we will pick up another QB.
Why would you pick up another QB that does not know the offense and will not get the practice time to learn it? It would be a horrible move at this point of the season.

Don't get me wrong, I like AJ, but the pressure was this last PS game, the starting job was his to have, all he had to do was have the same kind of game he's had the previous 2, but he got tight, and blew it....so what I'm saying is Saban's not going to keep him and let him developed. I can see that, so why hold onto him? We might find a gem out there who played well for another team but got caught up in the numbers game.

You need your QBs to know the offense. AJ will stay through the year & if he does not get the chance to redeem himself then he will be let go next offseason.

teams do it every year......the third QB runs the scout team in practice....he never sees the field, this is the perfect time to pick up somebody.

AJs career may be over, unless a team in a WCO picks him up. ALA Detriot.

My guess is AJ is here until we come to terms with someone or manage to cut a deal for him somewhere.

True, but what do you do in the event both QBs go down? Play a guy who does not know the offense & has never practiced it?

Practice time is over for these guys. Its prepare for the games & get the game plan down.

Good point.. I have no idea why we keep expensive dead weight

if we don't have anyone to put there atm, why cut him? it's rare to keep 2 qbs.

you do realize how few snaps a third QB gets in practice, right? probably close to 5%. Which makes it very easy to bring somebody in, and gradualy get up to speed.

During gameday, the third QB is almost always inactive.

Did you not read what I post? However, lets go with what you said. How is a QB going to learn a new offense getting only 5% of the snaps during the week, which I question as being too high. Frankly they are lucky to get one.

Practice time is over. Players who are not playing pretty much get pushed aside until next offseason. No developmental time during the season. Its prepare for one game to the next.

No, he is not inactive. He is the 3rd QB. Which means he can play if both get injured.
