Why do so many people think we throw the season if we start Moore?

He couldn't beat out Jimmy F'ing Clausen in Carolina and people are clamoring for this guy. Both QB's that we have are mediocre at best.

Garbage.

That's not how it played out at all. Moore was made the starter for 2010, got a concussion in game 1, Clausen started Game 2 and then Fox like a moron kept playing both for the next 3 weeks. Moore didn't have a choice. By the time he got the position back he suffered a torn labrum within 2 games.

he was also playing with those same type of guys.

he may have been playing vs 2nd and 3rd stringers, but he also had those guys as his weapons.

moore is no savior, but he will look like one compared to the dull offense led by tannehill that we see on display weekly.

You know what's interesting.....reading all your posts.....then looking at your avatar AND sig!!! Ironic.

I think for the first time ever for me, this decision is about winning and securing a playoff birth.

If Tannehill is not the guy and we bench him in favor of Moore, that buys this entire FO and Staff the opportunity to get us into the playoffs with Moore and protect the continuity and equity we have built in many areas of this franchise.
What makes anybody think that Matt freaking Moore gives us a better shot at the playoffs?

These players are grown men. There is no guaranteed jobs on this team. If Ryan T plays like crap, he should be benched.
He has had the whole off season to get up to speed with the new offense. It isn't working with him.
We cannot change the offense, but we can change the QB. That is all we have to look forward to this season.
The eventual changing of the QB because this will not get better with RT. So far this season, we have had an excellent rushing attack, even with Moreno sidelined.
RT should be able to succeed, but he isn't. He just doesn't have the instincts or NFL arm to play the position.
He was playing WR in college because he was a good athlete. They knew then.
The only reason he got to play QB was dopey Sherman had no one else.

The funny thing is Lazor specifically said the offense was catered to his players. It's not just template they're forcing on them.

In 23 career starts Matt Moore has posted a 90 + passer rating 7 times and a 100+ passer rating 5 times, (12-23) More than 50 % of the time he has 90+ rating
RT17 has had 35 starts, but has only posted 90 + 9 times and 100+ 4 times. (13-35) less than 40 percent of the time he has 90+ rating (37%)

Matt Moore is just more consistent IMO and less likely to have those WTF games.

You have a point, but these players still have a desire to win.
I think you have the pulse of the team wrong on the final 9 games. Sparano had the same mindset as some of those on this forum regarding RT. Wait and let it improve. Well it didn't. This season will play out the same way.
That team was out of it, and almost made the playoffs. It was an amazing run. After a few wins, we were on a roll and no one took this team lightly....except for the Jets ...who got pasted.
Partisan troll.

of course they have a desire to win and pressure from w/in but there is a different kind of pressure knowing your teammates, media, fans, coaches expect you to win to get a team to the playoffs. A player can play looser knowing one bad mistake won't send his team home.

You make some good points.

But didn't Tannehill do the same thing? Led team to 3-3 record in 2012 after team was out of it. When we had a chance at 4-3 he went 0-3
In 2013 went 0-2 with playoff on the line.

So we have given RT 2 chances and Moore 1 with handicapped start.
Some would just like to see Moore get a chance while we still have one

Ryan is still relatively unproven, he still has upside as hard as they may be to see right now. we know Moore is not the answer, I think Moore is a good backup. Can play a game or here and there if you need him but I wouldn't rely on him for the bulk of a season if you want to win.

Ryan is struggling but it is still a brand new system and there were going to be growing pains in this system.

Personally think he is shell shocked from being sacked so many times in 1st two years. Checking it down way too much IMO.

Doesn't sound like Moore is too sturdy when he gets his shots....he might get carried off playing behind this improving line.

We had Moore Ryan's rookie year and did not start him over Ryan when everyone knew the correct move was to start Moore I think now that ship has sailed I think you need to keep in Ryan and I love Matt Moore and will always be one of my favorite Dolphin's players but now you need to ride or die with Ryan.

The answer to this conundrum is so simple. Benching Tannehill in favor of Moore will NOT win us a Super Bowl and will just wreck our draft position. Plain and simple. Give him the rest of the year to see if he can turn it around. If he doesn't, he and Philbin are gone and we can start fresh with a high draft pick and a new coach.

It sounds like it's Super Bowl or bust for you, and you'd rather tank with Tannehill than win some more games and maybe make the playoffs. I don't feel that way. I'd like to see us win more games, even if the Super Bowl is not realistic. Other teams achieve Super Bowl success without high draft picks (and others stay mediocre with high draft picks every year), so focusing too much on draft position doesn't make sense to me.

Starting Matt Moore is not throwing the season, it is throwing the next 3 seasons. It is giving up and starting over. The QB, HC, OC, DC, and much, much more are gone. And guess what? There is no guarantee that the next guy will work. I say give Tannehill and the coaching staff the season. If the coaching staff gives up, they are gone. They had the entire offseason to make their choice. They made it. If they admit they were wrong after 3 weeks, they should all be fired. All of them.
So why wasn't cowher fired when he replaced Maddox w roethlisberger?

Maddox got hurt, as I recall, opening the door for Roethlisberger, who did nothing but win. Tanny is not hurt, he's just no good.
