Why do so many people think we throw the season if we start Moore?

If Matt Moore Somehow gets the start this week, I predict the Dolphins WILL make the playoffs and I will explain why. The offense will be energized when he hits Mike Wallace on that first deep pass. The players will show up to practice with the kind of enthusiasm that winning teams have and will take that swagger and confidence to the games. In another 3 weeks or so Moreno will be back along with Pouncey. You WILL NOT see as many sacks (aka negative plays) because Moore can get rid of the ball faster. Because Moore is a better downfield thrower, the team will get into the red zone a lot more thus you will see more points on the board. Anybody want to argue with that? Notice I am not saying Moore is Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Brady, Rivers, Big Ben, or even Joe Flacco. What Moore will provide is more energy throughout the entire team which goes a very long way.

Let's also not forget it was a different offense.
How many playoffs did Matt Moore lead Carolina to.
No team has wanted to have Matt Moore as their long term an but somehow he is the solution to. All our problems

He couldn't beat out Jimmy F'ing Clausen in Carolina and people are clamoring for this guy. Both QB's that we have are mediocre at best.

These players are grown men. There is no guaranteed jobs on this team. If Ryan T plays like crap, he should be benched.
He has had the whole off season to get up to speed with the new offense. It isn't working with him.
We cannot change the offense, but we can change the QB. That is all we have to look forward to this season.
The eventual changing of the QB because this will not get better with RT. So far this season, we have had an excellent rushing attack, even with Moreno sidelined.
RT should be able to succeed, but he isn't. He just doesn't have the instincts or NFL arm to play the position.
He was playing WR in college because he was a good athlete. They knew then.
The only reason he got to play QB was dopey Sherman had no one else.

I think it boils down to this. Often the so called "experts" don't know sh$t. Once the narrative went out that Tannehill was better, it became an enshrined fact on this site. Any evidence to the contrary was ignored and people that pointed it out attacked. As with any poor theory, reality tends to get in the way--forcing those promoting to either abandon it, or to alter/patch it up so it fits with the evidence (e.g., blame everyone on the team for the poor QB performance except the QB).

I truly believe Moore was and is the better QB who got a raw deal. Hopefully he will get a chance to prove it (again) on the field rather than being marginalized by some armchair quarterbacks who (it seems) could't have been more wrong about our current QB.

The head coach and GM that made that move are no longer with the team.
Matt Moore is a good QB, a guy that can win games with a decent running game and defense.
Ryan T has crapped all over himself since game 15 last year, and was out played by Moore on THIS team in the preseason.
The conclusion is obvious.
RT supporters at this point are not looking at this logically.
If your QB is playing like crap, you bench him.
RT is crap, and will never play a playoff game. Book it.

Actually despite Carolina's effort to start Clausen no matter what Moore was named the starter for Carolina. His season just went sour when he suffered a concussion in game 1 or 2.

Don't invent stuff.

all I was saying is that Moore can't possibly play any worse than Tannehill is playing right now. this is a production issue. the offense needs a spark, maybe Moore offers a change of pace that gets guys motivated and gets things refocused. also, every QB has guys they click with, never know who steps up to be that connection with Moore. I dont get why guys are willing to ride this plane into the ground with Tannehill at the helm. It isn't working, we're 3 games in and we're lucky we aren't 0-3.

It's funny, they point to 2011 as if it was some great run for Moore. In 13 games he got 16 TDs with 9 INTs and 14 fumbles good for a grand total of six wins, all against losing teams. But hey- he can throw deep

so the fact that Moore was playing against burger flippers and stock boys doesn't matter?

he was also playing with those same type of guys.

he may have been playing vs 2nd and 3rd stringers, but he also had those guys as his weapons.

moore is no savior, but he will look like one compared to the dull offense led by tannehill that we see on display weekly.

RT has lost 4 of 5.
At this rate this translates 3-4 wins.
RT would be fortunate to beat 5 teams in this league.
If Moore starts a couple games and stinks it up, we will have all the answers about the RT and Moore that we need.
Both will need to go.

Incorrect...the DOLPHINS have lost 4 of 5
You can't TRANSLATE wins..for the love of God man :bobdole:
The RT led Dolphins beat more than 5 teams last yr...including multiple playoff teams, so your theory is pure speculation.
Moore is what he is...a capable backup....end of story.

The third yr is supposed to be the year to see if a qb has the goods.....most here said they would give him 3 yrs...I know, I know, all you so called experts have seen enough after 2 years and 3 games. And you all might be right, but I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet on the kid. New system, finally has a running game (it looks like anyway), somewhat better pass protection....if I am coach, he plays until we are eliminated from the playoffs....no excuses this year and if he fails, the organization knows we have to draft a qb and do what it takes to get that qb.

Putting Moore in ain't gonna fix special teams...ain't gonna fix our poor lb group...and probably not gonna fix the dropped passes. In fact, unless he pulls a Kurt Warner type late career surge, it will just be a waste of time and we will be no better off than had we left RT in and RT fails....we will still need a qb. So my vote still is to go with the young, athletic, smart, and strong armed qb and to see if he can get this offense rolling.

It's funny, on the POFO forum, someone put up a thread from 2012, RT's rookie year. 95% of folks were sure this kid was IT. Some good smart respectable posters were just going ga ga over him. Take it to the bank, like a boss, I know qbs and this kid is legit is what I heard. The following year in the midst of bullygate, getting sacked a record number of times, almost doubling his TDS and throwing for almost 4,000 yards with no running game to speak of, the team lays 2 stinkers to finish the season and not qualify for the tournament. The whispers start to get louder how HE was the problem...yup a second yr qb who basically carried them (and the low pts allowed d helped too) to 8 wins with a very vanilla offense is now having his doubters. Now in his 3rd game of his 3rd season, with a new offensive system, folks want to flip out cause the offense is struggling. Folks, he is the same kid y'all loved 2 yrs ago, just a better version of him. Were you all WRONG back then? Still has some flaws for sure, but it would be a shame to be impatient and throw him away. Give him his three years and then you should know for sure. Flame away, just mho.

A few things. First, we know who Tannehill is. He is a 3 season qb that still can't play. Passes are off, deep ball is non existant, his decisions are atrocious, and for an ex wide reciver, he seems to be stuck in mud in the pocket. So let's find out who Moore is.
Secondly, What do we do with Philbin? I don't want him, and if I want him gone, I tell him to stick with Tannehill. Joe may stay another year if Moore gets the job done this year.
Optics. How would it look for the image of the owner and staff if it is revealed they made a mistake in drafting RT with no. 8? They are already dealing with the potential bust in no.3 Dion.

Matt Moore is not a winning QB, his "success" in winning games have come late in seasons w/ his teams out of it. You aren't going anywhere w/ Moore. Might as well stick w/ Ryan.

In 2011 Miami scored over 30 points 4 times when Moore was the starter that's more than Tannehill has in 2 ****ing years.

he threw 3 tds 3 times in his games strarting, it's not alot but it's just as much as tanny has in 2 years and 3 games.

He's not a good qb, but with this team he can and will win alot of games and will blow people out.
