why do you guys think Ricky wont do very good.

it doesn't kill, or kill brain cells

Some of you guys go WAY too far in your fight for Marijuana. You'd think Marijuana should be a health supplement listening to some of you. Hilarious.
You are right Marijuana does not kill brain cells, it just diminishes their capacity during extended periods of use and that diminished capacity can become unreversible.
Say what you want but I have 2 friends from college that are walking examples of what extended marijuana use can do to someones mental capacities.

Alot of people will ask, if its harmless why was it made illegal?

Racism ....

:rofl3: Prime example of what it can do to your mental state. It's unreal some of the things you see on these boards. :shakeno:

Ricky will have a positive impact purely my motivating Ronnie, if they gel... man that's scarey, glad it's our problem.

i know old indians that smoked it in the peace pipe, and their fine.
its just like everything else....it affects differnt people in differnt ways.

Does anyone think that Ricky needs 20+ carries to be effective?

I felt (as in when he played here) as if Ricky would do better as the game wore on......it would take him a while before he would break free on runs. After a good ten runs then he would break for a 20+ run. Do you tink thats a result of him being overused and taking him a while to get his breath or was it his style of reading how the opposing d is then figuring it out and busting loose?

keep in mind it was made illegal in 1937. These are some of the things harry Anslinger (head of DEA) said when argueing his case for marijuana. These are real quotes. Everyone who knows the history of the plant knows it, and research will show it.

"Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men."

"...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races."

"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others."

“Marijuana is taken by… musicians. And I’m not speaking about good musicians, but the jazz type…â€Â

As for marijuana hurting your mental state? It might hurt it, but research shows email is worse!

do you honestly think thats the only reason Ricky retired???
i believe what he said. That the painmeds were to much for him, and that he was smoking weed (which is natural by the way.) because it was healthier on his body.

which brings me to my next point if anyone wants to argue.
getting drunk is worse for you than getting high off marijuana. does any one want to argue this?

You believe what he said? Which time? For about 6 months every time Ricky spoke it was to give another excuse. Too many carries, needed to find the truth, terrified about the world finding out he smoked pot, lost passion for the game, was underpaid, didnt like the leagues rules and structure, etc., etc.

As for your claim that Ricky was smoking pot as an alternative pain medication...Then why did he continue to smoke after he retired? Ricky was still smoking marijuana 3 months later when he did the 60 minutes interview.

Ricky never smoked for the pain imo, he smoked because of his anxiety. My friend has anxiety and the only thing in the world that cures it is marijuana he told me!

you have obviously never smoked weed. You actually do rememeber everything you do when your high. Its not like alcohol, it actually makes you smarter and you can think clearler, and it intensifys that information, so if you did kill someone you would remember it vividly. You actually blackout on alcohol. You can not get phsyically addicted to marijuana, that is a myth. Sure, i guess you could get addicted to it mentally, but then again you can get addicted to anything "mentally".

Ricky's heart was always in football, and has never played just for the money. He just didn't like the NFL style it seems. Why else would he stay another year at texas when everyone ruled him off for going to the nfl draft? Why did he not even mention a new contract after 2002 when he clearly out played it? Ricky didn't quit just to smoke pot. I think its obvious he quit because he knew the team wasnt going anywhere, and he was going to be in a wheelchair by the age of 35.

It most certainly does not make you smarter or think clearer. Just the opposite. In fact, most studies show that reduced memory and cognitive ability can remain for days or weeks after a marijuana user quits smoking. Some studies even suggest that such effects could become permanent in heavy long term users, though there are also studies that refute this claim.

After you smoke it some users do notice a short term memory loss. I am talking about when you are under the influence. It gives you creative thinking, and lets you think more vividly.

Now I see why I should smoke weed, because it makes me smarter! Hey I just might do better in my classes. W00t!

smarter wasnt a good word. It makes you more creative, and you think more deeply. Thats why alot of writers, artists and lawyers commonly smoke the herb.

I think his comment about racisim may have come from a tv show they have been showing latly. It went into how pot was demonized as a drug used by black men who would then go nuts and rape white women.

Students that smoke it get lower grades on average. It wouldnt be advisable for lawyers to smoke it due to the reduced memory and cognitive function. (I object, your Honor on the grounds of....uhhh......ummm...uhhhh...what was the question?) However, if there is a boost in creativity (never proven) then perhaps it would help them come up with things like the "twinkie defense"
