And as for Wanny running Ricky all the time. What else did he have that was going to give him a chance to win games. Even though other teams knew what was coming. QUOTE]

Sure Ricky was paid to run the ball, but 40 times a game, every game for two straight years. Did the guy quit when he was gaining 3 yards per for a full season? No. The reason he quit was because he could see that Wannestedt did absolutely nothing to improve the offense. I would have been tired of that too. I was pissed that he quit when he quit, not that he quit. And as for all you people out there talking mafia and war and all that bunk, WAKE UP - this is football not war and definitely not life and death. Sure I would accept that man back, he's a hell of running back that made a poor decision in the fans eyes. To him, maybe, it wasnt a bad decision at all.
Even if what you responded with above is true why in the hell did Ricky wait until the start of t-c to inform the coaching staff of his plan's to retire???
I don't care how beat up Williams was during the 03 season,, you will NEVER convince me that he didn't know that he was going to retire after the 03 season!!! And even if he waited until the draft it would have shown williams to be a true team player and not a team traitor!!!!!!!!!!!

You people who want Ricky back are ridiculous. This guy went against the family, and if you know anything about the Godfather, that is something you don't do.

What a bunch of hypocrites. Were you the same people who said, when Ricky quit, "it's ok, he just needs some time off,"?

Please.

The godfather???? Well..when the GODFATHER runs for a TD in crunch time then call me...ok? RW will add value to a team that was LAST in their division. St. Nick thinks so at least......

So..."you people" who don't get it ref winning football games...and who want to get all emotional about players.....get a life....

First of all, I am not going to judge what is good for my fav football team based on what I see in a MOVIE. :shakeno: That's just dumb.
Secondly, you want to talk about hypocrisy? All you guys going on and on about how you'd never take Ricky back will be the first ones on this board cheering if he breaks a 80-yard run late in the 4th to beat the Patsies. Or if he rushes for 1500 yards next season and leads the Phins to the AFC title game.

Relax dude. This isnt a mafia we're watching every Sunday in the fall. This is football. The guys got a head full of loose screws, but it doesnt mean he cant earn a living doing the thing he's best at. And if he wants to quit at the drop of a hat so be it. Its Wannstedts fault for not having a quality back to share the load with him.

Football is a sport, but more importantly its a job. I bet youve bolted from a job without any prior notice. Youre just pissed off becuase he affected your football viewing experience.

hes got a right to earn his living, but let him quit on some other team. he goes against everything i stand for. some of you people just dont get it. winning is great, but not when its tainted. id rather lose with travis minor and gordon, than win with williams

Ricky is not coming back. Travis Minor weighs more than he does now. He will have to start taking roids again to get back to where he was and then he will probably fail that drug test. F-Ricky.

How do you know? FOr all anyone knows, Williams has been working and is back up to 225-230. People keep saying this over and over and over. Noone has seen RW in 4 months or better. Unless he is a personal friend of yours, then it makes no sense to say what he weighs.
My guess, which is just as speculative as yours, is that RW HAS been working out and is much closer to his playing weight and is alot closer to playing shape. (This is assuming he plans to come back). There are certainly more rumors going around now that he is than that he's not.
Bottom line is, noone knows right now. (Except maybe Saban) And noone will know for certain until July 1st.

went against the family?....listen, the dude didnt want to play Football anymore. He can retire whenever he wants to. Did he pick a bad time to retire? Yes, but as been pointed out, BArry Sanders retired very close to training camp as well and we consider him the best running back of all time. Why? Should we not ridicule him as well? Bottom line is he is a human being and has every right to choose notto play football.

Ricky was my favorite player, besides the point, Ricky would help us win games....

For me, Bringing back Ricky would be....

Barry Sanders was a totally different situation. He had asked to be traded earlier in the offseason. Detroit said no, he let it go a while to see if things would change. Detroit wouldn't budge so he retired. He lost the drive to continue playing for Detroit, he wanted to go to a contender.

Ricky on the other hand had way more factors in his decision. Like Pot, No love for the game, facing a suspension etc..

Would I take him back? That depends on his reasons for coming back. If he is coming back to do his part to get to the SB then yes. If he is coming back to save his arse from Bankruptcy then no.
