Why does AJ feeley Deserve another chance at starting? He failed last season

Do you know how a quarterback gets that? Experience.

Yeah maybe. I prefer to believe some aspect of being a great QB is an innate characteristic. Either you have it or you don't because there are plenty of people that can throw the ball 65 yards and hit every pass on 7 on 7 drills. I mean look at some of the QB's that have excelled in the last 5 to 7 years, Manning, Cullpepper, Delehomme, Brady etc. They all had there bad moments when they strated, like Feeley, but they also made plays, had great games (not one pass here and there) and demonstrated a level of competence and, at times, brillance over extended periods of time that justified maintaining some level of faith and hope that they were going to have that special ability that a QB needs. Feeley has NEVER demonstrated that in my opinion. Furthermore, his mistakes are glaring. I have not researched this but I am willing to state that he has thrown more interception returns for touchdowns in one season that any other QB last year. You just can't do that. Lastly, I trust Saban and Linehan and the fact that Feeley has not won the job and that they are looking at other options speaks volumes. If they thought he could be the answer, that all he needed was seasoning, and that he had the necessary tools they would not be pursuing or atleast openly thinking about the Couches and MacPhersons of the world.

Tell ya what you can go ahead and look threw 1400 of my post and find one where I say we are going to win the SB and Ill look threw your 10 and try and find one that adds some football knowledge or brings about some intelligent back and forth to the board. I can spot a troll in one post.
YOU are so smart it makes me shiver

Why does Frerotte deserve another chance? He has failed a BUNCH of times!

I think its been proven when you put a new quarterback in, it makes the whole team around him more confident. Our offensive line just lacks of confidence. AJ feeley looked so inexperienced at the quarterback position last season that it wasn't even funny.

The problem with our o-line isn't confidence. And where do you see a new QB making everyone confident? Gus?

Feeley didn't look experienced last year b/c HE WASN'T EXPERIENCED. He didn't even practice with the first team at all during TC last season. Asking a lot from him isn't it? Especially with tht o-line and running game.

AJ has experience. i dont by this development stuff anymore. He knows what is expected of him, but he has to deliver.

This is professional sports. Its a what have you done for me lately business. And for players on the bubble.. its a "your only as good as your last game" environment.

If Aj doesnt wrestle the job from gus this saturday.. the book is closed. he'll likely get a shot during ther season... but still has to rise to the moment and TAKE CONTROL. hes been developed in Sabans system... we could debate the fairness of the competition... GUS though has given feeley every opportunity to win the job.

The QBs you mentioned also had a supporting cast, which was not the case for Feeley last year.

He would not perform because he does not throw an accurate ball like Peyton Manning. Peyton manning makes his teamates better. He puts the ball right on their chest. Obviously we have Chris Chambers, not saying that he isn't a marvin harrison but Marivn has been around a consistent accurate passer and has enjoyed a great deal of success unlike Chambers.

"Our offensive line just lacks of confidence."

Ohhhhh!! That's what the problem with O-Line has been this whole time! People they've just been lacking confidence!!!!

God, which hole did you guys crawl out of!!!! :shakeno:

This from the PBP training camp report:

• Gus Frerotte continued to run the first-team offense Monday despite his struggles against Pittsburgh on Saturday. At times, A.J. Feeley looked more impressive in practice. Late in the workout, during 7-on-7 drills, Frerotte floated two consecutive passes over his receivers. Feeley, on the other hand, had a few nice completions, including one he threaded to WR Bryan Gilmore.

I'm ready for real games. This QB stuff is just getting old. Pick one and lets get it on!! If that one isn't working out, switch. If that one isn't working out, switch to Sage. Lets find out if any of them have the balz to get it done.

Ok, I get it, you are just fishing here right?

I mean come on dude...the o-line lacks more than confidence!
Feeley can throw an accurate ball.
You do not know how he would perform in INDY, nobody does.
We have never seen Feeley in a game for 4 quarters with a dominate rushing attack. MAYBE he relaxes and calms down and his play is elevated....then again MAYBE not.

I will tell you this. We will look like stupid jackass fools if we don't try to find out.

What is everyone smoking, what is gus doing that is so great.
Feeley has completed 65% of his passes in the 3 preseason games.
Gus has completed 49% of his passes in the 3 preseason games.
Are you going to argue that gus threw a TD pass, which he didn't even mean to throw to that player, so it really shouldn't count anyway. Gus was sacked 4 times, Feeley only once. O.K. feeley did throw 1 int., But gus fumbled twice and once for a td. So even Feeley is winning the turnover battle as well. Gus got one TD by an errant throw and gave up a TD with a fumble.
Please some show me the stats that Gus is better, that's all need to know is why he deserves the Job?

I also trust Linehan and Saban's ability to judge Feeley. I am just saying that most of the things people write here are silly.

One thing you need to realize that with your "judgement" Brady would not of lasted past 5 games. In the first 5 games he showed nothing that would demonstrate that he is an NFL quarterback. He grew into the role with experience. His coaches did an excellent job of bringing him along and letting him be successful.

That is the risk you run by letting a young quarterback time to grow. You most likely get a Jay Fiedler, however you may get a Tom Brady.
