If it is just a question of money, I think the guy deserves to be paid. I know the Phins have Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller, but neither is in the class of MJD. We could probably then trade Bush or Miller to get some better receivers, if we acquired MJD. I'd be willing to part with a first rounder, for arguably the best RB in football. The entire league is laughing at our receiving corps and without a real #1, I am not sure how we are supposed to get any better on offense. Thoughts??

It would make no sense at all to be honest. He wants too much money..and we already are deep at RB. Bush or Miller wouldn't net all that much in a trade...and anyways trading a 1st round pick for a RB and then giving him a big contract is insane. We might have an early pick next year...who knows...but I sure as heck am not trading it for a RB.

The league seems to be moving away from the superstar workhorse RB. Why tie up all that money in one guy - if he goes down you are toast. Teams have found they can get similar production from several cheaper guys, and quite frankly we have a pretty decent running back committee. In fact, if the O-line comes together, this could be a surprisingly explosive and dominant rushing attack. Heck, Bush got 1,000 behind half a line. Add another home run hitter to the mix and there should be a lot of chunk runs. Only thing we're missing is a bruiser who can pick up tough yards in the red zone, and I'll agree MJD would be a huge improvement there, but hopefully Thomas (not likely IMHO), Messam, or Gray (once healthy) can develop into that role.

Why would they? If we are going to give up a 1st rounder and a ton of money why not go after Mike Wallace instead?

If we are gonna give up a 1st round pick, I would much rather give it up for Mike Wallace not MJD.

No one should be giving up a 1st rounder for a RB these days. I wouldn't say we're deep at RB though. I would say we have a lot of potential at RB.

Let's see what happens with our WR crop this year. One of the unproven WRs could really step up to the #2 spot behind CJ and that would solve our short term WR problem. Next year take a look at WR in the 1st or 2nd, or check out the FA wire.

RB is not a position of need and why would we go after a guy who wants to re-do his contract every 2 years?

Seriously...? Why any person thinks trading for a running back in this day and age of the NFL is a good idea is beyond me. Its a turn style position anymore and we have 3 capable backs younger than MJD with more upside and mileage left. Ricky Williams should be the last RB this team ever trades for, if you dont like the one you got, there are 20 more ready to be drafted next year.
