Why Ireland MUST be retained

I hope you realize you wasted your time with your response right? The OP was talking in jest.

A sarcasm disclaimer/post would have been nice. Wouldn't be the first time someone was transmitting from Mars here. I've read some incredibly stupid post's over the years. Good one Locke, you got me. I don't post much, but I have been here 10 years, and when I thought he was talking down to the poster's, I really got cheesed. Gotta love it!! GO PHINS!!!

Jeff Ireland is a horrible talent elevator who misses way more than he hits. Just ask Legadu Naane, Jason Allen, Benny Sapp, Daniel Thomas, Phillip Wheeler, Koa Misi, and the rest of the scrubs he has drafted or imported.

Joe Philbin deserves more control over the team and personnel decisions and acquisitions. If Jeff Ireland stays we will be doomed once again to over pay for mediocre talent and let our good players go to other teams.

We had a decent year this year but as a g.m. he had a horrible year.

He let our franchise LT walk and our Oline imploded.

He let Reggie Bush walk and our running game imploded.

He let Dansby walk during a career year, while the guys who we signed to replace him struggled all year

He let Sean Smith go, only to draft 2 cornerbacks who couldn't sniff the field.

AND HE DID ALL THIS WITH A HUGE SALARY CAP TO WORK WITH!!!

This guy needs to go RIGHT NOW!

I argue that WHO GIVES A FLYING F****** that Jamar Taylor and Will Davis couldn't get on the field when we have Grimes and Patterson playing well....
see above Argument for Sean Smith....you think if we payed Smith 6 and a half we were going after Grimes???

Reggie Bush is NOT a difference maker, don't get me wrong, the Lions signed Bush for 4M per for 3 years we could have done the very same, he might have done equal or slightly better than Miller/Thomas, but you remember the BUZZ about Miller? Why not find out about him full time...the only way you do that is if you let Reggie go....also see Lions record for proof

It is NOT irelands Fault that Jake Long walked...because Ireland offered MORE money than the Rams
do the research

we are STILL 29 m under the cap and POISED to make acquisitions in a Oline rich draft as well as sign key players back...

I post back and forth with Locke a lot. Rest assured, every word of his original post was sincere. He's dead wrong about this, but the one thing he is is sincere. Look at how many people thanked his post. It's not like there isn't anybody out there who believes Ireland shouldn't stay.

There's a lot of people on this board that don't get sarcasm

This is true. Locke is a big Ireland fanboy.

The phd line really didn't tip some of you off? Really?

Props to user locke :hclap:

Where is Locke? He should be defending his views in this thread.

This is a joke right? A troll topic? The biggest mistake would be to get rid of it's greatest asset. Really?

"The proof is in the pudding. Ireland has deftly got this franchise headed in the right direction with his savy acquisitions and draft picks. There are numerous players he's drafted contributing in a myriad of ways and that speaks to the genius in his scouting ability. You dont get into the position Ireland is in by being bad at your job. Hes been doing this for almost 6 years and i defy you to name 5 gms who've had that long of a tenure and were bad at their job. You cant so the only logical conclusion you can draw is that Ireland is really good at his job. Its math guys."

Dude, you must be high. Even some NFL Coaches have been put on record saying they equate Irelands terrible tenure comparing it to Matt Millens' in Detroit. There are many in the NFL that can't understand why he has not been fired a long time ago.

Ireland has missed on almost all of his 2nd and 3rd round picks, which are essential to building a winner, his 5 year plan has built us into a .500 club if your happy with that the keep him, I for one want something better

We all know those misses were because of coaching. Ireland has never had any say in who coaches up his draft picks, its totally unfair to judge him for that. The one time he did have final say on a coach he chose Jim Harbaugh. Ross was unconvinced about hiring a college coach and only gave a half hearted effort in trying to land him. Listen, Ireland has been waiting for final say for years now. If Ross would just give it to him he would go out and hire a coach he knows would succeed. Jason Garrett is probably going to be unjustifiably scapegoated by Al Davis, if he becomes available Ireland is sure to swoop in and grab him. We land the next great coach, Ireland gets full control, and our team will immediately turn it around.

You should be careful about wanting to change things up for no real reason. Teams fall apart all the time because of how unstable they are. If we do that we might get a winner season for 5 years. We should just keep things largely the same, but with the changes I've listed of course. You don't need a PhD to see the merits of this plan, but it certainly does help if you have one. Maybe that's why people are objecting to keeping Ireland...

What a douchebag.

[mod]Please refrain from personal attacks. Especially against those with PhDs.[/mod]
