I just cant understand why everyone in the US is so down on the Dolphins, saying that we are gonna go 3-13 or whatever this year. I am a bartender in CA so I do get to talk to a lot of unbiased football fans towards MIA in my area. I just break down the following upgrades from last year, a year when we went 4-12.........

1. Nick Saban replacing Dave Wandstadt
2. Hudson Houck our new OL Coach. One of the most renowned men in the game.
3. Scott Linehan as our new O Coordinator.

Because of the fact that we were in a lot of the games last year late into the third quarter, I think that the coaching upgrades alone will bring our win total up from last year.

Two of our draft picks, Roth and Crowder, at one time, close to the draft, were considered mid to late first rounders.
The addition of Stockar McDougal and Vernon Carey seemingly turning his mindset around will make the production of our o-line better(cant get any worse than it was).
Boston taking it easy through training camp and just having to be a #3(if he stays healthy) is one of the best wide reciever trios in the game today.
When Ricky was around, everyone was on our bandwagon as a SB contender. Well now we have Ricky back, at a different role, with Ronnie Brown leading.

Sorry for rambling, but I see us at at least 8-8 this year!!!!

8-8 would be fine with me...double last years win total...

When a team like the Dolphins has a tremendous winning history, the media likes to really kick the team when they are down. They may not have another opportunity to bash the Fins for a long time. All this anger is decades built up because we have been good for so long.

4-12 last year. No #1 QB. No real major changes to the o-line (worst in the league last year. Sorry a 60+ year old coach won't get people excited in the mainstream).

Doesn't exactly add up to a great team on paper.

I think we go 7-9 or 8-8 also cause the Jets have major questions on offense. The Bills have a rookie QB. So, we have some chances to hang around in games we didn't last year.

I agree that the national view on Miami is very inaccurate, and the things you already listed are reasons why we will be improved. I would like to add to that and say that the way we finished under Bates was clear indication of how much this team could play better without Wannstadt. 3-4 may not be that impressive of a record in those games, but to do that in those circumstances was impressive. I don't have the statistics, but i know that the offensive numbers under Bates were actually fairly decent (minus turnovers), and even AJ showed some potential. I know he had a horrible second half in Buffalo, but we were throwing every play and most of those picks were flukes and not neccesarily his fault. This isn't a pro AJ post, I'm just trying to show why our offense will have a better performance this year.

Id agree 100% with what you said...except our team on paper isnt anything like it was last year. Sure we still have a ? at QB and the OL has to prove itself, but for anyone to blame our 4-12 season on those reasons alone are purely ignorant. The dolphin naysayers will have their share of cake to eat this year, ive got money on it :D

You are blind. Very significant changes to the O-line have been made. The line is also very young. Many of the problems last season were due to missed assignments (not being physically beat). Those are coaching and experience problems. Both of which should improve dramatically this year.
With better coaching last season, that same team could have easily won 6-7 games. They are much better this season.
BTW, what does age have to do with coaching. Do you expect him to suit up?

Yup. A lot of resentment towards the Dolphins essentially arising out of our owning every team for decades: especially northeastern teams where the networks are based.

The only argument I will make is that we "hung around" in most of our losses last year. The improvements we made, in my opinion, will turn those close game losses into wins this season. AND we will have some surprises. That's why I think 10-6, though being optimistic, isn't really all that unrealistic.

just win baby, guys without names need to step up, look at NE when they won there first superbowl, bunch of no names really, now they are household names, good coaching is all that matters

I do too, I think even 9-7, but I could see 7-9 too. The problem with the media, and the low record of Miami is two-fold - one we are in a good division and someone has to have a losing record. Two, the QB situation. If we had Marino in his prime right now we would go undefeated, but we have Feeley in his prime and that is a complete unknown. Most people think he will suck, and that Gus will get in the there and headbutt something. I actually understand the media on us. I just think Feeley will do adequate, and we will win some games. We will still need a QB though...

Teams in the NFL are fairly close in talent level. It sounds trite but any team can beat another team on any given Sunday. The difference in todays game is the coaching.Thats why owners are paying big bucks to get the best coaches.

We had the worst coaching staff in Dolphin history last year. Now nothing has been spared to get the best coaches.

The Dolphins will be vastly improved this year although I dont think we will be ready to challenge for the playoffs yet.We need to solve the QB and OL positions first.

You are 100% right, people got tired to see us to be on top for so long, now because we had a bad season last year, they feel a great deal of satisfaction to put us down.

A new head coach in his first year may struggle! I'm biased obviously being a Bills fan and will say that having JP Losman should not hurt us too bad. Can't be much worse off since we got rid of Deadsloe under center. With the number 2 defense pretty much intact ( losing Williams wasn't good but Edwards should step up nicely ) and having Willis McGahee, Moulds, Evans, and an unproven Parrish...JP doesn't have to win them, just NOT lose them!! Our special teams is awesome and Parrish could be very very dangerous as a return man.
I see the Fins going 8-8. That would be a big improvement. Hoping for 10-6 out of the Bills.
