Why not Devlin?

so...? we could still see what we got in him...heck if hes solid and wins us game...why not? i know everyones for the suck for luck thing, so why not give em a try? if he wins games then we made a good choice, and if he blows we get Luck...a win-win situation
because getting lucky and winning 2 is not solid for a starter...winning out the next 12 games is the only thing that would make me happy if we are bringing someone up...

Are you Pat Devlin's agent? agent's clerical assistant? Aunt Jenny? Delaware neighbor? mother?
Doing a good job trying to promote Patrick, but your boy needs to show something in practice.

I assume by your response you're a fellow "anti-Lucksucker." If so, and have an eye towards winning instead of losing, I respect your difference of opinion although I want to see what this kid has since he was thrust in our clueless regime's lap despite themselves, as if Karmically.

However, if you're a SFL and you feel this way, you should have absolutely NO problem supporting the starting of Devlin after a few clipboard holding games on the sidelines - that's of course unless you're afraid this kid has a lot more potential than you're letting on. Which is it?

SO Pat Devlin is talented like Cam Newton? An undrafted FA is going to take the league by storm.

Devlin had better numbers than Newton. Different conference, but still.

Like someone said before, if you are ok with the suck for luck thing, what do you have to lose starting Devlin?

The love for Devlin on here is ridiculous. And the reason we aren't starting him is that there is scarcely an idiot in the history of the NFL who would completely bypass a backup QB who was one of the top performing QB's in the entire NFL this preseason, has shown the capability of making accurate downfield throws, has starting experience, and didn't perform that badly in his emergency appearance after taking almost no practice reps, in favor of an undrafted rookie who is not even talented enough to be plucked freely off the PS by anyone else in the league to serve as third string.

I'm an anti SFL man and I'm hopeful we can beat the Jets next game. Maybe Devlin does have exceptional talent, but I'm just bemused/intrigued by his constant promotion, to the point where I really expect it is his agent getting on this website to promote his boy.

Know we are using metrics of college football to measure if a guy can play.

Might as well find all the Texas Tech QB's then. They had better numbers than anyone over the years.

Kind of a difference is SEC action and A10 ball...

Other than next 12 games, what do we have to lose with Devlin? If he sucks, all the SFL people will be happy, if he doesn´t we fave a QB. We already know what Moore and Rosenfels brings, are all about, why not try the kid? Newton SUCKED on pre season, what if the kid is a gamer?

yeah, why not try to find a gem in pat devlin right ? :bobdole:

friggin tired of hearing this, we've been looking for gems for about a decade, let's just draft that priceless diamond named luck and get it over with

If you feel that way then you can't be an SFL'er, right? Or if you are, other than being inconsistent, are you afraid this kid might display Brady or Warner like qualities? After all, during his Sr year, both Pittsburgh and NE were monitoring him closely.

because devlin might win a few games?
You are 100% right. Devlin knows the system now and imo , he is ready to play. There is no excuse not to promote him to the active roster. If he is that bad that they have to keep him on the practice squad then damn it, cut him and bring in another Offensive Lineman or Safety and develop one of them. They should bring him up now let him play a little during the remaining games and if he lights it up like I think he can then it gives them more options during the off-season. What is wrong with that?

Because the Dolphins are storming through the league right now as well. He is a project QB so let him project but just do it in a real life situation.

Hell it can't hurt right?

Yeah i just dont feel like moore is gonna get the job done. He was too inconsistent at the panthers, so i dont have much faith in him. Devlin is young, a good arm, and has good football knowledge. Like i said, if we give him a chance and he's solid, we've found our quarterback. If he sucks, we got Luck next season...I dont understand why nobody will support this arguement

Couldn´t agree with you more! If he is that bad then cut him!

Last I checked, Pitt and NE didn't draft him, didn't sign him after the draft, and didn't sign him when he was readily available. I guess they weren't very impressed.

Here's a newsflash: Tom Brady wasn't just the beneficiary of a magic opportunity. He earned his way up to the backup job by impressing in camp and preseason, something that Devlin has never done.
