Why not Devlin?

Last I checked, Pitt and NE didn't draft him, didn't sign him after the draft, and didn't sign him when he was readily available. I guess they weren't very impressed.

Here's a newsflash: Tom Brady wasn't just the beneficiary of a magic opportunity. He earned his way up to the backup job by impressing in camp and preseason, something that Devlin has never done.

Are you an SFL'er? Again, if you truly feel that way.. and are rooting for losses, you should have no problem starting him. Worst case scenario, you're right and his shortcomings are revealed so we move on. Best case scenario either you're proven totally or partially wrong, we now know what we've got and at worst he's established some intrinsic value as our future starter, valuable trade bait or bonefide back up material. I don't know what the issue is here is you're a lucksucker :idk:

Exactly, Right on the money!

All the lets just go ahead and play devlin is quite silly. Of course if we want to lose im sure no qb out there could do a better job of losing for us but Im sure Saprano wants to win and keep his job. Devlin has done nothing to earn a start or even earn a roster spot on any nfl team. Its always possible he may become a good qb but the entire nfl has deemed at this point that he is not even worth a roster spot. This babble of #1 undrafted free agent is all speculation and we dont know how every team felt about him. we do know that not one team even the dolphins felt him worthy of drafting.

You are 100% right. Devlin knows the system now and imo , he is ready to play. There is no excuse not to promote him to the active roster. If he is that bad that they have to keep him on the practice squad then damn it, cut him and bring in another Offensive Lineman or Safety and develop one of them. They should bring him up now let him play a little during the remaining games and if he lights it up like I think he can then it gives them more options during the off-season. What is wrong with that?
Based on what?
He's been in the NFL for 9 weeks and that's it? start him or cut him?
relax, he's a developmental QB. it doesn't happen in two months

Not to mention but no qb in my memory has ever after not making an NFL team just brought up and proclaimed starter during the season

Besides not knowing what they are doing, the problem is that Sporano and Ireland are not developing anything right now. They are just selfishly looking at their own jobs. How does that profit this football team? That's why they need to go NOW. They are not interested in the future of this team or a QB for the next years. If Devlin turns out to be a solid QB it won't benefit them, because they will be gone next year anyway. All they care about is trying to win now and keeping their jobs. They don't even want Luck next year either--because they won't be around.

but that's the rub.. Sparano is history if nothing more than for the fact that the Steelers won more games in Miami Gardens than has the Fins over the same period. His only hope of saving his job is if someone unexpected, that he was wise enough to champion, just like Devlin comes out of the woodwork and lights it up. So as a dead coach walking, he's really got nothing to lose either.

That's true, his only hope is to take a chance on Devlin...that is the only move that might have a chance of turning the season around. (P.S. All you SFL'ers your only hope is in vain.)

Yea because starting a QB who has never been able to make an NFL roster is a formula for success in the NFL. Moore is a much better chance for success even if its about zero

Your generalizations sound eerily similar to those you adamantly asseted when arguing that Wake as both an UFA washout and CFL player will never be successful. But hey, you do score points for "consistency:

Im pretty damn sure we did not just sign Wake from practice squad during season and decide to start him out of the blue , correct me if Im wrong. In fact Wake sat on bench a whole year before he started. You seem to only have the Wake arguement which statically as rare as any in NFL history. Yea because I did not see Wake as a probowler Im quite wrong that we should start a guy right off the practice squad over a guy that at least earned an NFL roster spot. Your logic is quite flawless Vaark. In fact whenever I have any opinion just keep bringing up the you were wrong on Wake as the center of your arguement it makes for such an ingenius rebuttle. Dont worry though if I disagree with you I will somewhat stick to the subject and not keep bringing up your opinions of players that turned out to be wrong. The fascination with people wanting to start Devlin is not based on anything tangible and makes no sense from any standpoint. We can still develop him on the practice squad and he seems in no danger of being pilfered at this point. I think its quite an indictment of the FO opinion of his ability that he did not get promoted after injury to the starter. I still love the logic of those that say start him when no other team even wants him on their active roster.

burn of the day

burn of the day

Yea what a burn. You were wrong on this guy so how can u be right on anything oh how small I feel . Your logic is also quite flawless. So by your logic anyone that is ever mistaken on a player never can make a valid point. Well I guess that applies to everyone in life , yea what a burn lol. wow
