Why Was Matt Moore Signed by Miami?

I still think Ireland survives with a bad year.

I do too. sparano is tied to henne. henne has to have a year with at least 90+ qb rating and a playoff win in order to get a big contract. Ireland will get rid of sparano if he has to, but if ireland is gone, i will be severely dissapointed. i dont like starting over completely again cus you just do not know what you will get. big names have failed. Ireland has his act going strong minus qb position.

on henne and this one bad play, yes, it is the same type of stuff we saw from him in the past, but I see it as more motivation for henne to get better when the games count. He was without very key players in the O and I just see the O being a lot different than last year. You are going to see these type plays every once in a while. I like Matt Moore and its nice to see him do well. Dude has to get more PT in this offense though if he would really do well when games count. It is smart to let Henne keep the reigns cus he has to prove it still in order for the future. We need to know. Henne redeemed himself later to hartline. I think we will do fine with henne and moore.

That would be unfair. If we're bad - it will be more Ireland's fault than Sparano.

How do you figure? They tried to trade for Orton and that wasn't to bring in Orton as a backup.

No, they wanted to replace Henne but couldn't get Orton so now they're trying to sell us on Henne as a starter.

Much like the Sparano situation. They tried to replace him with Harbaugh but couldn't and now they're trying to sell us fans on the idea that Sparano is their legit choice as head coach.

I for one want to see Matt Moore with the 1st team starting this week. I think he's slightly better than Henne.

And frankly, it has seemed like this post-Tuna regime never had a viable plan from day 1. And that started with chasing Harbaugh and then going back to Tony - and it continued in the draft - moved on to the Orton circus - and now there is no discernible plan for Henne/Moore. This FO is lost.

And the owner said this, contrary to the re-writers of history:

Ross said. “He’ll be competing with someone, I know that. If he’s the best guy that we can find to put in that position, and he’s demonstrated that, I have no problem with that.”

Henne + Sparano + Ireland = AJ Feely + Wanstadt + Mueller = same outcome: none of them Dolphins next year. Just hate to have to waste a season to get there.

For those saying Moore sucks because he did it against 2nd and 3rd stringers, well, he did it with 2nd and 3rd stringers. I don't think it's too much to ask to see what he can do with the first team offense. It's not like Henne's Brady or Manning and untouchable; heck, they were openly negotiating for Kyle friggin' Orton as an upgrade! It's not a shocker that they're not 100% sold that Henne's our franchise qb... And if it hurts his feelings, tough shizzle- stop throwing interceptions!!

Here is what I don't get.

We have watched Henne for a couple years now. He is not the worst QB in the league, but he clearly is far from the best. Even if he had great receivers and the best O-line in the NFL he would still be what he is....an average QB. So what did we do since last year? Nothing. We didn't draft a QB. Then after the lockout ends, we sign Devlin and Moore. It is like we are bringing in some very average QB's to compete with average QB's....are we just trying to "throw" the season so we have a better shot at Luck, Landry Jones, or Barkley next year? You watch teams like the Eagles make good aggressive moves and then you watch the Phins year after year, and you have to wonder where is the commitment to winning?

Trust me, I am not sticking-up for ALL of the head coaches and GM's since Shula who passed on QB's. They all failed miserably! I do think we have an owner now that will push for a "franchise" QB in the draft. We all know Wayne H. didn't get involved in the football side. I just do not see Ross sitting back and letting this go much further.

And please do not mention Orton. I like Orton, and would have liked him for the right price, but I didn't want his contract to strap this team for the future so I am glad we passed.

In a way I would not have minded Orton to come to the team but the reason I was against it was if they would have signed him, there is no way they would have went after a QB in next year's draft and in about three years, the Fins would have been right back where they started.
