Why would anyone take Pitts over Smith?

Well, people can talk about how many light years better NFL DB's are than those in college, but rookie WR's like Justin Jefferson keep making the people perpetrating this garbage look like idiots.

If NFL DB's were that much better, NFL teams wouldn't have to keep looking to the college ranks every year to find some that can play.
If you are trying to tell me that college DBs are just as well coached at technique and leverage, that they spend an equal amount of time working on football, or that they are, as a whole, better athletes in general than collegiate players, then you are not credible when it comes to the larger picture.

As far as NFL player continually being replaced by collegiates......no $hit. Elite level athletic abilities, as well as durability, have finite shelf lives. That arguement in not only specious, but ridiculous, as it pertains to the discussion.

The one I bolded

Re: When Coach Flo was coaching at the Senior Bowl, it was reported Coach Flo loved DeVonta Smith; and when a reporter talked about DeVonta Smith's size (or lack thereof), Coach Flo appeared slightly agitated at that mention and got defensive, stating his (D. Smith) size didn't matter because he was still productive, even on the big stage.

That part was an interview I watched during Senior Bowl week. That's why I was able to describe Coach Flo's demeanor, "Coach Flo appeared slightly agitated...." Not sure where I can find that. If I come across it, I'll put it on here.

Jefferson would have slipped to the second round had minnesota not drafted him. Experts thought he was just a solid two or three but your crimson tide boy was drafted first with clearly high expectations because of his combine numbers.
That's a bold statement considering SF drafted Ayuk after Jefferson was selected. Who's to say we don't draft JJ if he's available or the Ravens?

“You can nitpick all you want about a guy’s size,” Flores said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “Good players are good players. This guy is a very good player. Made a lot of plays in college . . . [in] biggest games.”

I'm assuming you mean NFL players there.

But no that's not what I tried to tell you. Re-read and tell me if that's what you keep getting out of my post.

If you're trying to tell me that NFL DB's are light years ahead of elite college DB's then you haven't had much experience with either one. I already know how not credible you are. As long as I'm opposite of you I'm probably ok.

Thanks!

NFL teams are run by people that don't know what they're doing. They prove that to you over and over again but you just tell yourself that you don't get it.

Jeudy had a good rookie year, especially considering he was stuck with a stiff like Drew Lock. Yeah I know a lot of experts that tried to tell you how great he was too.

Fair point Pach, and the outcome of the draft is dependent on different variables at the end of the day. We will have to live in hindsight after the draft, and when the season starts. It would be more appropriate to have most of the conversations and views we all have here. Had smith's issue with weight not been a concern he would have been hands down the best prospect at receiver this year. The NFL plays big, and plays by bigger roles. Respectfully speaking, I don't see Smith as a guy in the NFL that can take the every down beating of a number 1 wide out unless he packs on more weight. To say that he's 185 lbs is extremely questionable. If we pass on him, and he becomes something great I will swallow my misjudgment because at the end of the day I do want to see him become a great player in the NFL just as any young kid. To me he isn't a great fit in our team. I don't want us to deal with players that cannot remain healthy on the field as we already took that gamble before. We don't need any more Yatil Greens here.

Feel free to not respond to any of my posts, as I do yours. The only reason I bothered this time was you directly quoted mine.

I will admit, deciphering what you write is challenging.

What changes in the NFL is mainly defensive schemes. You can have the most agile corner in the world, but if his football IQ in the NFL isn't great then he is already at the bottom of the depth chart. Corner is the hardest position to play in defense, and 2nd hardest position you can play in the football team after Quarterback. Which leaves me to my next point, how is our development going with Noah? We spent a 1st round pick on him, and I am expecting him to show up more next season. Not all corners make an immediate impact, specially if we have two of the best corners in the league starting for us.

I don't understand why you keep quoting me and talking about the dolphins. I don't give a sh*t about the dolphins or what they do or what fits or what doesn't. Let go approaching me from that angle when discussing players.

If good football players don't fit your team then that might explain a lot. Yatil Green has nothing to do with Smitty. You're all over the place. You take a chance everytime you take a breath, much less draft a football player. If your logic was based in any semblance of rational thought Yatil Green's injuries never happen because of his size. He was a big receiver.

Who says San Francisco would have drafted a wide receiver if Ayuk hadn't been in there. If anything, Jefferson wasn't seen as a big play threat as Ayuk was. Give credit to Rick Spielman at least.

I was surprised the Eagles drafted Reagholor instead of JJ. I guess I just had a higher grade on him than many did.

We are in a dolphins forum you know.

I mean is hard to look back as some players overachieve, and underachieve. I don't personally think the players that were drafted underachieved other than the expectations set by the draft experts. I am optimistic that some of these receivers will break out next season. Eagles have a new situation going on for example, so who is it to say that JJ won't be great in that Reag won't be great in that situation for example.
