Will BRees or Rivers be a Fin come Trade deadline?

No.

This is football, not baseball. If this came down at the deadline, it would be the most significant deadline trade perhaps ever.

I still maintain that the Dolphins will probably get Brees for "free" (no picks) or Rivers for cheap (not giving up nearly his value in picks) this offseason.
 
i would like either of them too, but neither of them will be coming here this year.

the Chargers are still grooming Rivers, and depending on how Brees plays this year will be what largely decides their fate IMO. If Brees repeats like he did last year, then i see the Chargers trading Rivers next offseason.

If Brees bombs this year, and proves that last year was a fluke (which i don't see happening), then the Chargers might release/trade Brees and keep Rivers.

Bottom line is i don't see anything happening till next year... and we discussed this exact scenario ad naseum earlier this offseason.
 
why trade for them this year? this team is not one piece away from greatness, and we'll have a shot at brees next year, or even Phillip if San Diego shops him around. But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to bring someone else in right now, First, whoever we bring in will have to learn a whole new system, and second they'll have to work on cohesion with the other players, which is a problem with both Feeley and Gus right now, one knows the system, and the other knows the players.

Nope anybody brought in right now, will not make any difference until next year at BEST.
 
I could see a Tim Couch brought in right now, but that is only because he'd be "free". I suppose it is also possible some team's #4 QB could come in as this team's #3, but that would frankly excite me less than Couch (and I'm not one to get excited by former first round busts).
 
We'll wait and see what happens next season re: draft class, free agency etc...I think the answer could possibly like in Brees (Via FA) and a 3rd or 4th round drafted QB (Orton or Orlovsky of next years class). If there are no quality free agents, I think we'll make a jump at the high order e.g. Leak, Young, Leinart, Jacobs but I think it's a sure bet IMO that we'll try seriously to sort this situation out next season.
 
No...neither will be a fin this year. I don't work for the organization or anything, but NO. Just my thoughts. Maybe i am wrong.
 
I don't think either of them will ever be Dolphins. The Chargers are going to have the option to trade either one of them and they'll want a lot in return. I don't want the Fins to give up a first rounder for either one and I think that's what the Chargers will ask for.

I don't know about that, he's been looking really good in the preseason games, I watched the last game where they played the Rams. He could be a fluke, but this year has not even begun yet, let alone end, so after this season ends then the evaluation of him being a one year wonder can happen. Obviously if he does well this season then that will prove that last season was not a fluke and that Miami should try to get him.
