Will BRees or Rivers be a Fin come Trade deadline?

Our future QB will be in the 2006 NFL Draft.

other than your opinion why would you even speculate that he will be a bust I have seen nothing but good things out of him and if he were a dolphin he would be a starting QB

yeah... i don't see this at all... he's got a tremendous release and arm... and he's a real competitor... the Chargers will be smart to have Brees on a short leash this season... we won't sniff Rivers without giving up a first-round pick next offseason...

this is the right answer.

let saban and his staff go out and SCOUT for the future of this team.

what scouting will saban have done on any of these qbs that people keep bringing up for trade? NONE. ZIP. NADA.

saban said that buidling a successful franchise was a process and is a long term thing.

Also, he likes building through the DRAFT and not trades.

Why you say? Because he can better scout people in the draft.

People need to lay off the trade for qb A or qb B or pick up qb C.

Our QB comes from next years draft.

Maybe our future LT comes from it too cause draft is LT deep.

and have you seen anything from Ronnie Brown? is he a bust as well?

I can't imagine any scenario in which Rivers is traded by San Diego. I mean, they payed a bunch to get him and simply lucked into Brees having a wonderful year. If anything, I think they let Brees go next year for "free" unless he gets tagged again. Personally, I would rather have Rivers over Brees. Something about him reminds me of Marino. The quick release is great, but it is something else I can't put my finger on.

Anyhow, the only way we get Rivers, I think is if lets say Brees plays awesome, missed like two games due to injury and Rivers comes in and stinks it up and then Brees comes back and lights it up again. But if all that were to happen, we would still need a lot of luck to get him.

The problem is we seemed to have had a propensity to pick up QB D-

I feel like Brees controls his destiny if he has a year similar to last year then Rivers will be gone IMO

If I may just ask..Whats your analysis on "Rivers being a bust?" Not starting a topic war, but when you "call a player out" well, explain to us why.

I'd like to see Rivers here...I am not interested in Drew Brees no matter how he plays this coming season.

I'd also be willing to give them a 2nd round pick plus a player or two for Rivers. Why, well, #1- I think Rivers has the skill set to be a good starting QB in this league, possibly even a top 5 passer with time. #2- I think with his size, armstength, and accuracy (at least his college accuracy since we haven't seen him in a pro-game yet) that Rivers fit extremely well in Linehan's spread offense. #3- i like the fact that he's still got I believe 5 years left on his contract (although it may be 4). #4- Because he's already signed and would have to come in a trade, we woudn't have to pay the severely increasing salary demands for a highly drafted 1st round QB. #5- still focusing on the already signed contract, it's also a signing bonus that we don't have to pay as SD has already taken care of just that for us. I believe that as of this season Rivers will have already been more than 75% of his negotiated bonus.

OK...even with all those reasons, and the fact that I persoanlly think he's going to be pretty good (but he may not?) I don't think that SD will trade Rivers...no matter how well Brees plays...wait..I take that back....IF, that's IF the Bolts WIN the SuperBowl with Brees as the starting QB he'll stay there as the PR hit would be enormous (although he wouldn't be the 1st QB to win a SB and then not return the next season).

My personal feeling is that because River's is already signed to a long term contract that after the season SD will franchise Brees again and then trade him....They'll again, I believe, have just enough money under the cap to do that. And their GM Smith has turned that franchise around quickly...I don't see him screwing the pooch anytime soon, he simply been too solid (not counting the whole Shawne Merirman BS that they went thru to get him signed). But Again, If it's Brees available...I don't want him. I didn't want him when we had a chance to get him in the draft (although I didn't like the Fletcher pick either) and I don't want him now. just my opinion. :)

1 - Have you ever seen Drew Brees? This guy has had a hard career but at times in his career he has shown tremendous bouts of accuracy and precision. Sure, he has struggled but until Keenan McCardell was brought in last season, that team had really no receiving options. Am I the only one who had seen his ability before last season?

2 - How exactly is Philip Rivers a bust? He started all of one game last season and played well in that game. This guy has expert mechanics and one of the greatest releases since Peyton Manning in regards of college transitions. He's played solid in the pre-season and I've really seen nothing bad going against this kids track record at this time.

3 - :yeahthat: to Leinart being a big no? With a mere 'good' season this year, it's possible that this guy could be the the greatest quarterback prospect of all time. You can give all the excuses about how he has had a great team, great coaching and luck, but this guy has excellent leadership abilities, beautiful accuracy and although questions about his arm strength, did anyone see the Rose Bowl?
