He just doesn't look like a leader of men to me. I dont get the feeling that the guys on teh team would run through a wall for him.

P.S. Kevin Coyle on the other hands seems like he could.

Well here is how I look at this topic, I blamed Shermasaurs for his antiquated offense and lack of creativity. Philbin wanted to protect his boy and was told to fire him or hit the road with him. There is no excuse this season to be as shortsighted on offense as they were last season. If the offense if handcuffed this season it lays solely on Joe and no one else, Lazor wants to add flare and if Joe doesn't allow him to do so, I'll be calling for Joe's head.

Weakest link is a bit strong. But certainly he's no great help either.

And no, he's not the best coach we've had since Shula, not even close.

Philbin still needs work being a better game day coach, he may not be Tony Sparano bad, but he does need to get better, but what he does do well, will help Miami in a huge way of the players are able to get it together.

Philbin is really good at creating an effective game plan, he was great at that in GB, and he is still able to do it.

He sees the weakness in each weeks opponent, and is able to create a plan that will put the team in the best shape to win, but if the players are not able to do their part, no game plan will help.

Lazor would not sign a contract without being given complete control of the O. This will be on him this year, and not Philbin. I have no problem with Coyle.

I have not seen Philbin as a VG leader so far but, many HC's grow into one over a little time. We shall see. IMO, one thing which has hurt us is leadership on the field. I believe that Tannehill has now grown into that role on O, and can see the potential of a few adding that and attitude to our D.

Philbin made good and bad game time decisions, as does every coach. Half time adjustments were not all that good but, not sure if he was the one making them. I want to see this year before deciding. He's earned that much.

Damn, where was that great game planning against Buffalo last year? You are really overselling that ability. His gameplans left much to be desired against most teams. I rarely saw them do innovative stuff to attack other teams' weaknesses in the way the best coaches like BB do.

Are you talking about the same BB that went 36-44 with the Browns?

His biggest asset is game planning, is he going to be on the mark 100% of the time? No, but if the players had played well enough to execute, and do their jobs (Especially the O-line), Miami could have won 10 or even 11 games, and nobody would be questioning Philbin.

Not saying he is a top HC, he still needs to become a better leader during the work week, he still needs to be a better leader at halftime, needs to inspire or motivate better, and he absolutely needs to become better on game day, other then the challenges, his decision making is not the best, but he is a very smart strategist that does give his team the best chance to win.

Those last two losses are at the feet of the offensive line.
Both games against division opponents..learned our tackles could do nothing effective, but pick themselves up.

When your line gives up a league high in sacks, no amount of coaching will matter.

Clabo where?
McKinnie where?

Yep..thought so.

In the last 2 games, McKinnie gave up 2 sacks vs Buff, and there were 0 sacks vs the Jets. Clabo played very well.

the last two games were the teams fault. the whole team.

Which is a reflection of the team's coach. Do you really think if Shula in his prime was the coach that they would have been so disconnected, as a team, with the playoffs on the line?? What about if the coach was BB or Carroll, or Harbaugh?? I hate NE but when the games count BB has them playing their very best ball of the season. That was when Brady was there or when he was out. A good/great coach has his team playing their best when that games matter the most. Our coach has done the exact opposite. He should have been fired at the end of last year, either with or instead of Ireland.

Clabo and McKinnie limitations allowed for a game plan that could get nothing done on the edge.

And if you think either played well. Well lets just say that theory doesn't pass the eye or smell test.

The OL gave up 2 sacks vs Buff and none vs the Jets. These are facts. Did you see or smell sacks that were not there?
