We're actually not in too bad of shape after Griese is gone. T-Bow might have to go and Ogun will not get a multi-year deal. You will start at about $12-15 million OVER. You will need to cut Griese, Ruddy, McKnight, and not pay Fiedler's option on 2006 just to get near to cap compliance. Then you will still need to do more to tender RFAs and EFAs, not to mention cap space to fill out the top 51. Then what about re-signing your own UFAs or other team UFAs? 2005 cap is already bulging at the seams

I'm not too sure about extending Surtain. Hasn't he had problems with his knees? That may not be the proper route. Absolutely get a pay cut from Madison, that will definitely be needed. Players like Fletcher and T. Perry will be potential June 1st cuts (for the necessary cap space to sign the draft picks).

But one thing y'all seem to forget, releasing a player usually requires replacing that player and that takes cap space.

This year will be more difficult than last year.
