Will Ronnie Ever Be Better than Ricky?

His potential is there, but he has to start getting some carries and show what he can do week in and week out.

I don't see him ever putting up 1800+yds like Ricky did for us a few years back.

Of course not, you won't see that Wadd ball around here now. Even Ricky himself won't hit 1800+.

Ricky has had one great year since he has been in the league, now we are worried about Brown being better? One Year! The rest Ricky has been Average.

Don't take it the wrong way, Ricky has talent, but he is not as great as some make him out to be.

Brown has the ability to be more then what Ricky is and was. Now the question is, can he put it on the field.

no i think ur wrong, ricky williams was considered a top5 RB by everyone for a reason

i think ronnie will have a better career, of course, but i dont know how great he'll be in terms of just skill...i think he could get to rickys level but not suprass him much

1,372 yards in 2003....The yards themself are more then merely "adequate" let alone considering we ran the ball 2 out of 3 plays and Ricky faced an 8-9 man front every down.

1,853 in 2002......nuff said

even w/the saint's and not getting all the reps he hot 1,245, 1000, and 800 yards (injuries as well).....

The guy won the Heisman and broke how many NCAA rushing records? If Ricky played in Denver he would have 2,000+ yard seasons every year, lol.

oh yeah forgot...as to Ronnie....he has the ability to be one of the top backs in the league.....before he actually plays a full game against a first team D....hell a full year for him to get adjusted somewhat to the NFL, the game, speed etc....I'll reserve judgement as to how good he "can" be......unless he comes out blowing people out of the water.

I watched the Tampa Bay game at Dolphins stadium.

Cadillac Williams did well against us running the ball. He seemed to be an NFL starting tailback for sure.

That night - Ronnie fumbled the ball... and never really got going.

Actually - he never really got going the last two games. I can't even describe his running style yet...

Without Ricky around until October - we'll get to see what Ronnie can do.

AND - great point - if Ricky had played in Denver - he would definitely be at 2,000 yard back -

Couldn't have said this better myself, I think many of us fail to realize just how good Rick is. It's his head that needs fixing.

"put it on the field" is what is important, I like Brown a lot, I want Brown to do well, but better then Ricky? I dont think so!

Ronnie is a power runner and excellent reciever...he is better when put in a situation that he gets open past the line of scrimmage or on screens and dump offs. Ricky has power and is a little more elusive than Ronnie, better at making the first guys miss...Right now, he has better vision on the field than Brown, but that'll even up as RB gets more carries. Will he ever be as good...yes and I say this for one reason...you won't have to worry whether the next carry will be his last like we have to with RW...so from that view...Brown is 10x the back RW is...

It's that vision that separates Ricky and all the great backs from the rest. They just see things before they develop. I sure hope Ronnie can be as good someday. But for now, he's got a long way to go.

You're right about the elusiveness. I think that's part of what makes Ricky such a great runner. He can run right over top of you, or if you tense up expecting the big hit he can just go right around. An amazing combination of power and finesse.

The Ricky that ran for 1800+ yards was the best running back season I have ever seen. I know thats a big compliment but In my eyes he could do anything, outrun you, run over you, block and catch. Just a spectacular season by a spectacular back. Dont get me wrong, I saw barry and terrell's 2000 yard seasons and preist holmes touchdown parade year, but all around I think Ricky on top of his game could have been the best ever, and I am not that really that big of a fan of his. So to answer the question, to early to tell but it's a tall order.

i hope so, really ricky has had 1 great year in his career... besides that hes been an average starting RB in this league performance wise... im hoping ronnie will surpass him
