Will RT be in the Top 100 players for 2014?

lol, so this top 100 list is pretty worthless. more-so than some might already think, since players can submit their vote in November, and voting on the current year. that makes no sense what-so-ever.

It's just filler during a dead period in the offseason.

I know it's just Wikipedia, but they say "The rankings are based on an off-season poll organized by the NFL, whereby players vote on their peers based on the performance of the previous season and their belief of how the player will perform in the coming season.

voting starts in November, do we really think players are projecting to the following season?

the jury is out on geno, I am not sold but I was very encourage how he ended the last qtr of last season. he really improved those last 4 games.

The Ol wasn't great but he had chances to perform and failed. some of the sacks on the OL, some on him but the OL is being used as the excuse(along w/ the OC). Plays were there to be made, there is no reason Miami shouldn't have made the playoffs last year. was it all on Ryan? of course not, if they improved in any of a number of areas they make it. OL a little better, run game a little better, D a little better but also if the QB was a little better they make it and he as awful w/ the season on the line.

I saw a lot of dolphin games last year, did I watch every snap? no but I saw more than enough. He wasn't anywhere near as good as the #s suggest which is why I never judge solely on #s. I remember folk telling me how great he was against us and Pitt and he put up excellent #s but also kept opponents in both games.

The Ol is used as an excuse because it was a huge problem, and was the main reason we missed the playoffs. Ryan had chances to make some plays as well, but he was not the main reason for the team's poor play. I'm not making excuses for the last 2 games, but getting sacked 58 times would inhibit any QBs ability to make plays. Especially one that is only in his 2nd year.

That link only describes the voting process. It doesn't explain the the thoughts of why the players choose who they do. I don't even think the players know for sure. Manning was on the list in 2012 when he didn't even play. He ranked 50, so that makes me think that some players were projecting what he would do the next year with Denver, and others thought he shouldn't be ranked at all since they were basing it off of the previous year.

As long as Tannehill shows steady improvement and growth from year 2 and can finally bring this team back to its winning ways, it doesn't really matter where he is ranked on a top 10, top 50, top 100, or top 500 list. I just want him to get the job done so we don't have to continue playing musical chairs at QB like we have for the past 15 years. It'd be nice to know we're safe at the position for the next 8-10+ years. I have confidence he can get it done, but it doesn't really matter what we think...Ryan has to get it done on the field.

You're over thinking this, dude. It's based off the season prior to the voting, not the opposite.

but they start voting in November of the same year. so some of them have to be projecting. either the rest of 2013, or all of 2014. if it's the players view of the top 100 of the current or prior year, then why not just say the nfl top 100 of 2013?

I don't think all the players even know what is supposed to be based off of. Some might make their picks based on the prior season alone, and some might make it off the prior season with the next season in mind. That is the only way to explain Manning being ranked #50 in 2012 when he didn't even play the previous season.

He very well could make the list next year with Lazor as the OC Knowshon at RB and Albert, Smith, Pouncey, Turner, and James on the oline.

But it's silly to think that he belongs on the list.

25???? I'll have some of what you're having

the main reason you missed was b/c of the QB. The OL was not nearly as bad as you guys claim. It wasn't good but it was mediocre. The 2nd half of the year it was pretty good, plays were there to be made and they weren't made. would they have been made w/ a better OL? maybe, but you had the ability to make the playoffs if you got better QB play.

I have said it many times, Wilson was sacked at a higher rate than Tannehill. Back in '85 Ken O'Brien was sacked more times and at a higher rate(sacked 62 times in 100 less attempts) and he led us to 11 wins and a won the passing title. we had a better ground game but our QB took a lot of hits. Ryan kind of reminds me of Ken w/o the great deep ball ability.

it wasn't all on Ryan but he had the ability to get you to postseason, the D was more than good enough and kept you in a lot of games. Ryan did not step up like he could have. Let me say this again- I am not saying Ryan sucks or that he won't get a lot better I am saying he failed in 2013. I expect he will be better, as an opposing fan he worries me and I think that is a pretty good compliment but he didn't do enough in 2013 and too many excuses were made for him.

Please, continue to tell us dolphins fans how it really is with our team, oh wise one...

Jackass...

If he improves on last year (no reason to think he won't with the revamped line) he could be borderline top 100 talented players in the NFL. If we're talking about top 100 players in terms of their value/importance to their relative team, he is already in the top 100.

well that takes up 32 spots because every teams QB is of great importance/value to their relative team

I just LOLed very hard at this thread title.
No disrespect OP. I strongly disagree with your post
Ryan Tannehill so far an average at best qb, who has never had a winning season in the top 100.
Maybe if they did the "top 100 quarterbacks in the league today" He would be 25-20 like you expected.
I sometimes find it surprising how warped and ridiculous many people's opinion can be based on who their favorite team is.
The great part is there are people here agreeing with the OP lol.
How could you watch this guy play and say he is one of the best 100 players in the league after last season?

He may be next year, but he has to PROVE IT ON THE FIELD!!

I cant wait for the "He should be but the national media is out to get the Fins" crowd

EDIT: If you meant next year as in this coming season, disregard the above rant..

I would say he could be on the cusp, or sneak in next yr. Of course, he would have to improve and LEAD this team to a winning season, cur down turnovers, show more awareness, etc
My apologies for misreading the thread..Carry on

You mean out of the whole 2 seasons he's played?
