Apparently Tuna and company are talking to everybody associated with Ryan after having poured over his game tapes. ESPN's First Take had said about a month ago that our strategy would be to to try to sign Ryan or whoever before the draft. Now ESPN'S hashmarks surmises the same

  • The Miami Dolphins are the most tight-lipped organization in football right now. Bill Parcells broke his silence to say a few words to New York Daily News columnist Gary Myers last week, but it wasn't anything particularly revealing. The Dolphins would prefer trading out of the pick, but they won't find a willing partner. I have Miami choosing Virginia defensive end Chris Long right now, but Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan is still a strong possibility. I think Ryan has the intangibles that Parcells is looking for, and it wouldn't be the first time the former head coach drafted a quarterback No. 1 overall (Drew Bledsoe).
I'm told that Parcells has spent hours pouring over tape of Ryan and that he and GM Jeff Ireland have talked to pretty much anyone who's been associated with him. If the Dolphins can reach an agreement with Ryan before the draft, I think they take him. If not, they'll stick with Long.

I'll tell you this Adam, if they do go with Ryan, then I hope they just go ahead and dedicate most of the rest of the draft for offense to help Ryan out.

Lineman to protect him, a tight end, another receiver etc etc

Go with the defense we have this year and build it next year

if we do draft him i want the Contract to be done i dont want him to hold out like all the other QBs did

Ive been working on a mock draft and I think it might just break that way. It seems that the plan was patching up the defense in free agency and I think the draft will focus on offense with one cornerback being drafted somewhat early

Funny you should mention that Adam :hi5:
Not with Tom Condon as his agent. :shakeno:He held Quinn out last year and is notorious in the past for sitting LT out a month and turning down the richest offer ever for a TE for Gonzalez and insisting on WR monies. He's been named by Sporting News "The Most Powerful Sports Agent" and has a tendency to talk up all his reasonable clients as "first rounders" whether warranted or not.. imagine how he'll handle Ryan. You think he'll settle for $65 million??? IMHO, another reason NOT to draft Ryan. The irony: paying an unprecedented #1 pick amount for a QB who by all rights should be picked in the mid-high teens!!!! PS: Condon is a former BC player.

Its a tricky line Condon will walk however since the next drop is to the 3rd pick and he's not even looking at 60 mill in that scenario. Add the fact that Atlanta may not be a slam dunk for him and he could potentially be risking over 10 million dollars if he plays hardball. And knowing Parcells, I'm sure Bill and Ireland will remind him of that at every opportunity

BTW thanks for the Condon connection. Didnt know he went to BC:lol:

Point well taken.. but also consider that he wanted top 10 money for Quinn despite where he ended up!

YW.. he's inducted in their version of alumni hall of fame too.

I'd want him as MY agent, but sure wouldn't want him as the representative of anyone my team was interest in!

i don't think we will sign anyone before the draft..imo parcells and ireland will wait until the last second for a trade...
so our pick will be announced in the radio city music hall and i hope it will be not ryan ;)

it still hope we select dorsey with the 1st pick..

So the articule says they've been the most tight lipped FO in the NFL but he is told if they can get Ryan signed they'll take him? That's hardly tight lipped or it's just a guess. I watched that show and they also reported that the more they've worked with Beck the more they believe he's the guy. It's alot of info for such a tight lipped FO or just some reporters making news.

although I Like ryan, I am not convinced he is the guy they are taking.

I do however want to add that, no matter who we select, I would like to see them signed before the draft, and therefore not have to deal with any holdouts.

IT kind of sets the tone for the rest of the preseason IMO>
