A lot of people here are now praising Ireland for his draft, but claim that this year will determine him.

I can tell you right now that we will not contend this year. Tannehill might not even play.

Will the fan base have the patience to give him a few years time to truly build a contender?

Lets hope so.
 
No. Nor should we give him a free pass until we see progress. If we hover around 6 or 7 wins this year he should be on the hot seat.
 
I think a more important question may be will Ross have the patience? I think he believes in Ireland and that the answer to that yes.
 
All i know is actually paying attention to the quarterback position is a good way to start and keep your job. if he didnt do that, he would have had no shot.
 
What choice do we have? I'm on board with the direction of the team.
We can't blame Ireland for the mistakes of Parcells. This is only his second draft as the true leader of this franchise and I believe we are better today than we were when Parcells was running the show.
Personally - I'm a Phin fan. I'm a fan when were 17-0 and I'm a fan when we win 1 game in a season.

Our owner wants the best from his team and he's learning on the job how to go about it. The worst is behind us. There are better days ahead Dolphin fans!
 
I think we need to see some progress. For me progress is not necessarily determined by the ultimate win/loss record. If our offensive production goes up (ie. more td's, yds per game, etc) and our D improves, then I think I will be happy. If the wins don't come it will suck, but I want something to look forward to, and better performance will do that for me. However, I think starting in year 2 of Philbin I will be expecting to contend.
 
Why are we rebuilding, because we finally drafted a QB? This is basically the same team with another draft and an improved coaching staff. We didn't get Manning and even attempting to sign a 36 year old signal caller screams that they think they have a decent amount of talent on the roster. The only way to get a franchise QB is to throw your hat in the ring and draft one. Unless we would have got Manning nothing was going to put us in contention to topple Brady for the next few years.

It is what it is........hope Tannehill becomes elite around the time Brady is winding down and we become the rulers of the AFC East. If Tannehill does not pan out, then we are likely are looking for a new GM and coaching staff. At that point, it might be labeled a rebuild. Just enjoy the season with the play and development of the players. Neither Luck, RG3, or Tannehill will be hoisting a Lombardi trophy the next few years. But Moore, Garrard and Flynn likely never will unless they end up holding a clipboard somewhere.
 
if Moore is named the starter expect poor attendance and a losing record. I know I wont be making the trip down to Miami to see a game this season if Moore is named the starter and we start off the season stinking it up.

Sure Moore learned Daboll's playbook but how will he do with Sherman's. That is the rub on Moore.
Asses in the seat is a variable. For me you have to start the kid now. The fan base has been begging for it for a while now.
If you are rebuilding do it right.
 
I would not call it rebuilding. I think we are transitioning to WCO and 4-3 Defense and we needed to get another QB in the draft after the Henne/White Fiasco. As soon as Tannehill becomes the starter we will be considered a rebuilding team. Dont know how long that will take. Defense is kind of built. the offense is getting much closer. I think the offense just needs a starting Guard and one very good WR and some expereince and we will be there. Defense could use a very good CB and another pass rusher.

Pass rushers are DE Wake, Olivier, and Westerman. we can say Odrick but he should pass rush from the DT position. I think we need another pass rushing DE and another OLB that can pass rush on top of what we have. Dont know yet if the Safetys will improve so lets hope.
 
I think it will depend on if we see the progression or not. We won 6 games last year.... we should be at least 7-8 wins or he should be done.
 
All we get to do is watch. That means that if we keep watching, going to games and following the team, our patience is infinite.

The majority of the fan base are nothing more than front running fans. Miami has a good base of around 30k, the rest are ppl who have other teams they root for 1st.

Miami has one of the worst sports fan base in America. It's just the makeup of the town itself.
