I haven't anything good about him thus far in camp. I know there will most certainly be a learning curve. The only thing I hear about him is how he's been getting worked. The funny thing is people have the audacity to say he will light up the Bears D line. Based on what ? His draft order ? A college highlight "Gladiator" film? His play thus far in camp certainly hasn't warrented such predictions. I hope this guy is all that's advertised. He has a hell of a motor, and a passion for the game. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Some people have a very unrealistic idea of Matt Roth. I looked at him and I LOVED his first step and his work habit and his unrelentlessness. However in the NFL you need some technique. He has a lot to learn and if he learns it he could be something special.

Exactly... Roth has great burst off the line and great speed for his position. In college... he could dominate with his speed alone. He is finding out that having just speed isnt gunna cut it and he is going to need to learn not just one... but mutiple techniques to dominate in the NFL. He will get there, its just a matter of learning them... and he has one of the greats to teach him. It will take a little patience with Roth, but once he learns different stunts and moves to both the inside and outside, he can dominate. He is a rookie and we cant forget that...

Nasty

Good point...sometimes i think we all look beyond the player and see only that he is a dolphin player. this guy could be way to small to play on the dl...we might need him to play lb

I've been concerned for a while about him.... he never looks like he's got a lot of size. I'm sure he's an animal, but he always looks so puny. His arms are cut but he's not big.

JT has the wingspan though, plus he is as strong as an OX. How many times did he win the lineman challenge? And I think in a majority of those competitins he even won the weightlifting set.

he may not have the longest arms but you can bet that taylor is not gonna let him fail..roth couldnt ask for a better mentor

The bottom line is that Roth is still a rookie in his first training camp. If he was as good as we would like to believe, he would have been a first round pick. He may turn out to be a very good player, but the bottom line is that a lot of rookies need time to adjsut to the game, and even top ten picks take a while to get used to the level. It seems to me that a lot of second round d-lineman don't really make a huge impact until their second year, and Roth has a lot of veterans in front of him to share playing time with.

Seeing him in person, hee does look smaller than I was expecting.....

But then again, he's only a rookie....

PHINZ RULE!!!

How much time does he need? JT was already showing signs of greatness at this point in his rookie camp!
