Will the real Matt Roth please stand up ?

hes heavier than jason taylor and only 2 inches shorter.. too small:confused: :shakeno:

Saban even eluded to the fact that they need him to be bigger and stronger. he may very well end up being a great player but probably not this year.

I haven't anything good about him thus far in camp. I know there will most certainly be a learning curve. The only thing I hear about him is how he's been getting worked. The funny thing is people have the audacity to say he will light up the Bears D line. Based on what ? His draft order ? A college highlight "Gladiator" film? His play thus far in camp certainly hasn't warrented such predictions. I hope this guy is all that's advertised. He has a hell of a motor, and a passion for the game. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

As a DE in college sometimes you can get by with your initial move. However, in the NFL offensive linemen aren't that easy. Roth needs to learn how to set up an O-lineman with various moves. Hopefully, that will come with continued practice and coaching.

How much time does he need? JT was already showing signs of greatness at this point in his rookie camp!
 not every player we draft can be jason taylor, if you expect roth to be as good as JT then your expectations are way too high, a player like JT comes once in a looong while.

Last time I checked, he's a rookie playing in his first NFL training camp. What did you expect, for him to come in and just dominate? get real.

Some people have a very unrealistic idea of Matt Roth. I looked at him and I LOVED his first step and his work habit and his unrelentlessness. However in the NFL you need some technique. He has a lot to learn and if he learns it he could be something special.

I admit I'm one of those people. I actually posted last night about my "unrealistic expectations" for him. So he's not the next "Freak". Wouldn't it be better that he needs a year or 2 under his belt then develops as well as JT long term?

I think that's he's going to be OK. He needs to work on his technique, he can't just be the better athlete anymore, not in the NFL. I saw him today, he was overpowered by McDougle, but he never gave up and he showed heart. He'll be ok, he just needs some time.

Exactly..... this thread is rediculous.
He has a lot of growing to do so let him do it before trying to analyze him. Sheeesh. :shakeno:

lets see.

Stockar McDougle - 6-6, 335 pounds, coming into his 5th year in the league
Matt Roth - 6-4, 275 pounds, been in camp for two weeks.

Give the kid a chance. Besides, if Saban isn't even letting him tackle, there's no carrot.

Huh hum, thank you! Strictly a RE. Bye Bye JT! You are only blinded by your dolphins loyalty and a bunch of freakin hoopla by the gallery, you being all of YOU! Ridiculed me, for saying he is only a RE, and he wasn't worthy of the second we wasted on him. Oh, he needs time.... blah blah blah.... THAT IS A SECOND DAY PICK!!!!

Wake up people, and smell the stuff people on here like to shovel. My my my, how only time reveals I am correct once again. But, a few names unmentioned, are even admitting they are wrong, and some are down right bitter, with their lame excuse of him being a rookie, and it being his first NFL camp. That aint got nothing to do with it! He is a RE, and always will be a RE. Period.

Damn, I like being right, and my how time changes everybodies songs. He aint that stud everybody claimed he was.Except for me of course.

Is that draft looking not so stellar yet? Was it still the best the Phins ever had? Your words, not mine. Remember, I said good talent draft, but a bad draft. Didnt help this team one bit this year. Has it yet? Couldnt count on Daniels, had to sign Shulters. Roth aint that stud LE or SS LB you all hoped. Wheres Ronnie? Channing? Like I said, Channing will have the most benefit this season for us. But, he wasn't needed all that much. Replacement for Zach.

One day you all shall learn.........

So let's see....you ramble on about how half of our draft sucked? How can you be a Fins fan if you belittle the team like that??!!

dont worrie about roth...

I have been reading and hearing about how matt roth has not shown anything in tranning camp and everyone is worried about him. well let me tell you this if you have any doubts watch the senior bowl this guy is a stud, they are just practicing its not a real game, dont judge him until you see him dominate when he gets in the game monday. also the guy has been in a few fights in the first couple days of camp maybe saban told him to calm down a little and he is just waiting for monday.

It's called wanting the VERY Best, not wishing it was the best. Hey, I am no genius, but when watching the game tapes, if I can spot this tuff about players, the NFL GM's sure the hell should be able too.

A) Our guys we got have talent, but it wont be beneficial to this team this year.

B) I like our COACHING staff, and now our personel staff, now that we got Randy Mueller.

C) I want the best for this team, not some half hearted, sticking to what you know, like Saban did. That only limits the talent that can be stocked on this team. That not the Very best, and for you to ignore that fact, shows how much you are a fan, to not care enough to know more about your team, you say you love. I can take being ridiculed, because in the end, I am right 80-85% of the time.

It's all good... Bad thing is, nobody will even care when the season is done, because we had to grab FA's, to fill some gaps left even after the draft. And, nobody will even think twice all the talent we passed on... which is a shame. I sure hope it gets better, because if we continue the role of letting other franchises train our players for us (trades/FA Acquisitions), we will never have draft picks, and always be on the cap ceiling, fighting inflation.
