That is simply being realistic. I think a lot of folks around here waaaaaaaaaayy overrate Chambers, but aside from that, he's still a competent deep threat. Pretty impressive line up of skill position players.

Now, if the OL can just hold up it's end of the bargain.

You underrated the fins offense, now you overrated it (i understood the humor). Can you see things in reality? We're not as bad as you mentioned though we're not a super offense...
Would u change this offense for what offense? Right now you can't name more than 10 or 12 offenses better than ours. Including the coaching factor.

chris chambers - top 15 WR, can be better, can be average
marty booker - top 10 #2 WR in the league
david boston - top 5 #3 WR
derrius thompson - a very capable #4
randy mcmicheal - top 5 TE, especially passcatching
ronnie brown - top 10 RB, especially rushing & recieving
ricky williams - best backup RB anywhere
lamar gordon - top 5 #3 RB
aj feeley - bottom 10 QB, until he proves anything
gus ferotte - top 10 backup QB

aside from feeley, our skill positions are definitely in the top half of the league, and if linehan is a genius, then we will be in the upper part of that half.

is there any other team's combo of 3 WR/3 RB/TE that you would rather trade for? the only ones that come close are BUF, SD, OAK, KC, Det, IND, STL, and ARI. But none of them have the depth that we have.

Yep, i guess everything's relying at the OL...and it's not so hard to be realistic. BTW, about Chambers, I agree..imo he'll never be great, a TO, Holt or Moss...but he can still be a deep threat, and maybe a Top 10 receiver in this league. Just reminding that Cowboys game at thanksgiving day, there isn't an average receiver in a "good day" with luck that can do that.

we have already begun to rebuild our D. if we get some solid young DTs in next years draft, we will have a nice mix of youth at the DT, LB, and CB positions

its also a young offense, our OL whoever ends up starting could theoretically be together for years and thats what makes a unit great, that chemistry from playing together for a long time... chambers booker and boston all 28 and under, brown a rookie and mcmike is what 26ish? if feeley can be our guy we can have our offense set for a good run of years... it has the potential, just gotta make it happen on the field... and keep it together with the cap which might be the hardest part

I think if this offense can get an average of say 24 points a game they will have a good season. I can't see the defense giving that many points up.

My point is that no one really knows what our offense is right now. As for seeing things in reality, let's wait until we play to see what the reality is. Perhaps you can see the reality of things ahead of time, if so congratulations on your powers. My point is that the original post of this thread declaring that our offense is going to be explosive jumps the gun a bit. But hey, as I intimated I used to think like that as well. Now I'm just a bit more grounded when it comes to my phins. To say we are a top 10 offense right now is ludicrous.

this offense has to do it on the field but my biggest points were that 1) we have more playmakers now than we ever had during the j.j./wanny era and 2) the saban/linehan philosophy is to be aggressive on offense...run the football/play great defense/keep the game close and try to win it in the 4th quarter...the margin of error in todays nfl is to small for that philosophy...

Yeah, I agree. I think Saban is building this D for the future. I just think we'll take a hit THIS YEAR on D with the loss of Suratin and lack of secondary and DT depth. I have high hopes much like everybody here with our defensive picks this year. I just dont think this is the year our O and D lines up for a deep run into the playoffs. Maybe next year?

I think the O makes large strides this year, and the D struggles a little bit, with solid performance at the end of the year. Just my take.
