Winston in Hot Water Again?

I'm sure FSU's compliance department is totally going to find violations.

Meh. I seriously doubt that signing autographs is going to hurt his draft stock.

With his talent level the only concern GMs have is whether or not this sexual assault allegation is cleared prior to the draft.

The autographs are nothing. But a little bird has told me best case scenario in his hearing/investigation is he's suspended a month. But he's playing this weekend.

Who didn't see this coming after what was said in the Gurley incident? I think NCAA regulations regarding this stuff are absolutely ridiculous, but then again, I think a lot of laws are ridiculous. You still have to follow them. Fight them, sure, but follow them. Yes, it sucks, but the millions you'll be making in a few months should more than make up for it.

What's frustrating, as a football fan in general, is that we have a player that is extremely talented and we're likely never going to get to see him play at his full potential because he's clearly one of the biggest idiots in football off the field, and like Manziel, he clearly doesn't give a ****.

I think Winston's teammates will love him. The question is will he take care of his business off of the field. For some reason, I think he will and have Cam Newton, Joe Flacco success.

I would take a shot at him if he is there IF, IF, IF the allegations of the sexual assault are not going to come back.

I wouldn't want that dude anywhere near my football team. Look up the many synonyms of 'dumb'

The reality hasn't changed. Here's the deal.... Jameis Winston can be in the news every week from here on out, but it doesn't change the fact that he's still the best when it comes time to lace 'em up for 60 minutes between the hashes and get down to business. Nobody does it better than he does.

For teams in the market for a quarterback... which is a lot of 'em... they can keep taking talent risks on QB's that help old ladies across the street when they're not throwing the football to the other team like Kirk Cousins and Ryan Tannehill, or they can take a character risk on a kid that can actually play the quarterback position at an elite level. I understand the concern with Winston's immaturity, but that should pass. You just can't find many kids this talented and this good. It just doesn't happen.

The bottom line is that the only thing the NFL will be or should be concerned about is whether or not he's going to be legally punished for being accused of rape. The league already knows Roethlisberger did when he left that girl bleeding on a bathroom floor in Georgia. So they have that going for 'em.

He can sign autographs and memorabilia until he runs out of ink... it doesn't matter to them. It won't affect Gurley, didn't affect Manziel or A.J. Green, and it won't affect Winston.

It's likely that Winston won't be for everybody. Teams will view him differently just like posters on a message board do. He's caused himself to be a controversial prospect, and that's his own doing. Same way Cam Newton and many others were. But again, the bottom line is whether or not the guy can play. Talent usually always wins out if the guy loves football, has a high football IQ, and is willing to work.

The negative view of Winston grows more everytime his name is mentioned for doing the exact same thing other players are getting patted on the back for, or completely ignored. I think too many people have stopped really evaluating what it is he's doing anymore. They're not thinking about what the actual transgression is anymore. It doesn't matter. They've washed their hands of him and are convinced he's a tremendous risk.

If I'm a team in need of a quarterback, I'm certainly hoping this is how the majority of other teams needing a quarterback view it. I'll take him as late as they'll let me.

The moment I start sensing that his off field issues are bleeding into football via his work ethic, film study, on-field demeanor, etc...that's when I'll be truly concerned.

So far I haven't seen that. His decision-making on the field is generally very good and shows an understanding of how to feed the ball to spots where the defense is weakest. You can't do that so fluidly unless you study.

We have a lot of incidents stacking up. Some of them are dumb enough that they really should be on the radar as far as draft grade is concerned.

I can't say I know for a fact what's going to happen with the rape allegations but I can at least say that I've studied every evidence report and police report on the incident, which 99.5% of the people out there commenting on him probably have not done, and my completely amateur legal opinion is he stands on pretty solid ground. The young woman's story kept changing and it hinged on this notion that Winston's roommate played the role of a knight in shining armor yelling at Jameis and telling him to get off her because she was incapacitated, which induced Winston to drag her into the bathroom where he could lock the roommate out. Except when interviewed the roommate straight up said all he kept trying to do was come in with a video camera to tape it, and even try and join in for an orgy, and that's why she was upset. So much for that. You combine that with the fact that she already had a third male's semen on her shorts that night...well, it casts more than reasonable doubt on the entire situation. Now you have David Cornwell who is a VERY esteemed attorney saying that the plaintiff's attorney tried to negotiate a $7 million settlement and when he refused they went to the press the next day.

This is probably the most pressing incident where it concerns Winston's draft stock, and it appears to have more holes than a porcupine's drawers.

The meme shouting at the student union is too stupid to really even consider as part of the package, IMO. It's as irrelevant as the autograph signing.

Two incidents of theft have my eyebrows raised a bit. Supposedly what he did just walking out of Publix with crab legs, he did the same thing at a burger joint with a soda or something along those lines. It bears investigation. But don't be surprised if those incidents break down into FSU players having the hookup at that Publix and/or that burger joint, and some managers being in on it while others weren't. I don't have a problem with athletes getting hookups. I would have a problem if a guy consistently just thinks he can walk into stores and steal things. But you also even have to keep that in perspective. Hell, Golden Tate wandered into a local donut shop that was closed down, started pigging out on donuts, got caught, and it was all swept under the rug up in Seattle.

Sorry gentleman, not buying into the overlooks of his character. Talent will suffice for college production vs boys. You better have your head on straight when it comes to dealing with and playing against the men of the NFL.

Winston = Vince Young II

My personal opinion is that Vince Young's lack of intelligence showed up a lot on the football field. I haven't seen that in Winston. I disliked Young tremendously as a quarterback prospect coming out. I like Jameis Winston a lot. So obviously I see differences.

Young did have a very quick delivery though. Give him that.

The burger thing was using water only cup for drinking a fountain soda pop. Something damn near broke arse college student has done or attempted.

The autographs is complete B.S. Go to damn near high profile program's Fan Day and watch brokers arrive in van carrying 10-12 family member each with 2-3 "items" for dear "sickly child" who could not make it. It's what drives the sports memorabilia business.

During the Bowden era, FSU actually had to bar autograph seekers from daily practice. Papa Bowden would stay 1-2 hours signing whatever, taking picking pictures, holding babies. He should have ran for governor. Jamis is the same way, anybody can go a football game or baseball and he'll sign whatever you bring.
