Worst/best moment in Fins draft history

Best: The book is out on this to be honest. Right now I love the Tannehill pick because I have faith in him.

Worst: Jason Allen or Eddie Moore. So pitiful.

Best moment for me was when I was in elementary school and we drafted Larry Csonka. I knew who that was. It's always hilarious when younger fans believe information wasn't available prior to cable television or the internet. Csonka was a big name collegian and I already loved fullbacks and physical football.

Many months later the positive impression soared when Csonka starred in the annual college all star game, which preceded the NFL exhibition season. My dad and I looked at each other and smiled.

I still think the worst moment was 1995 when Shula brainstormed Billy Milner and Andrew Greene. That was so inept it wasn't even worth trying to talk yourself into it. Even today you can try to talk yourself into Michael Egnew. There was no way to talk yourself into Billy Milner and Andrew Greene. I knew all about them and didn't even bother opening my drafts books to check more specifics. I was on a Las Vegas radio program that night, helping to analyze the draft. When the host asked how the Dolphins fared I started to laugh. The Greene pick was particularly comical because not only couldn't he play, but he was nearly 26 years old and couldn't play. That pick epitomized everything I despise about flawed decision making.

Now that I read the title again I see it says history. I was thinking recent memory. Marino is obviously our best pick all time.

By best moment, I assume the question means our emotion at the time and not looking at it in hindsight right? My worst was easily Jason Allen. I was disappointed when we took him but I was angry as hell after I watched the film on him immediately after we took him. A close second is when we traded up to take Carey. It was made us look like complete amateurs. The best moment was probably when we took Tannehill because I didnt think that Ireland would cave into the pressure and take him that high. Not that he did cave because he may have had him graded at that spot all along.

Patrick Turner. Jared Cook was there.

I can't remember the last time the FO made good picks in rounds 2 and 3.

Ted Ginn was so deflating. Sure he had a lot of raw talent, but he was nowhere near ready as a WR to be worth the 9th overall pick. There were so many other choices that would have been good to great; Patrick Willis, Derrelle Revis, Leon Hall, Jon Beason, Lawrence Timmons, Michael Griffin, Joe Staley. It was miserable. Being young and naive back then I talked myself into believing that Cam Cameron had a plan on how to use him.

Best for me in recent memory was Ryan Tannehill. More so because my whole stance going into that draft was that I wanted either a QB or Luke Kuechley in round 1 and I was sure Jeff Ireland was going to do something like draft Riley Reiff.

Ronnie Brown with the second overall pick instead of Aaron Rodgers

in hindsight yes but didn't hear many on board making that complaint at time. I was angry when we passed on Brees. Livid when we drafted Eddie Moore. Totally pissed off when we drafted Pat White and totally flabbergasted when we took Ted Ginn who was better than these scrubs but a bad early pick. I had Ginn as like the 16th best player in the draft.

Well I thought you were asking for the worst pick, and while I said Eric Kummerow, there are a lot from which to choose.

But as for my most painful draft moment, it has to be passing on Rob Gronkowski the second time.

I wanted Earl Thomas, but we traded down to get Odrick and 2nd rounder to replace the one we had traded away previously.

When that pick came around I was ecstatic. The guy who I saw as a future star and filled a need was sitting right there for us. I was literally jumping up and down screaming to pick Rob Gronkowski in the 2nd. His back had healed, he was a perfect fit. He was a much better version of Mark Bavaro, but totally dominant in every phase of what you ask a TE to do.

We drafted Koa Misi instead. Next pick was New England's ... They smartly took Rob Gronkowski. I've never been so dejected by a draft in my life.

Jamar Fletcher, Ted Ginn, and Jason Allen all come to mind as some of our worst picks.

I remember Timbo getting drafted and he had some injury concerns, but was one of the strongest guys coming out of college. That was the first year I started to get really into the draft and it turned out to be a great pick. Now I hardly have time to watch any college ball.
