Worst WR core in league

We have about 13 WR's in camp now. May the best men win.

"Can you count to four" and make something happen?

Welker is the kind of receiver a WCO needs. Goes to whatever open space he finds in the middle and catches what Brady throws. Bess is that kind of receiver. If Bess had Brady throwing to him, it's likely he'd have Welker's stats.

Now that Gates does't have to deal with a torn groin, he may be able to stretch the field. Hartline can catch it down the sideline. All we have to do is hit on one of the two rooks and we have a WCO receiving corps. Everyone in off the ledge, please.

I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination to look at our current corps and objectively come to the conclusion that it's probably one of the five least talented squads in the NFL.

With that said, I'm not really worried about it. You can't fix all your problems in one year, and we just had a very quality draft that plugged a few holes. Next year we'll look to upgrade the receiver position, and probably the safety position as well. I think we're one free-agency/draft away from being a very competitive ball club.

I can agree with the "you can't fix every hole in one season" argument. But the "you can trot out garbage WR's because it's a WCO" argument is a load of **** as far as I'm concerned.

Out 17,000 voters on ESPN, Tannehill was voted as biggest potential bust with 59%

Ryan needs to have this little tidbit scotc h-taped to his face for the next 3 years.

I'm no draft expert, but I bet next year's WRs will be better than this year's if not as plentiful. Why waste a pick this year on a WR that will take 2 to 3 years to develop (only Blackmon and Floyd, I think, are NFL ready) when there are a greater numbers of studs coming out next year; players that can make instant contributions.

I agree with you and the other posters who point out:

1. We can't fix everything in one draft; and
2. Drafting for position/need doesn't work if the player isn't good enough. Why draft another WR who isn't significantly better than what we have when we have so many needs. Maybe next year; and
3. It is possible that a real OC/system will make our talent look a lot better!

I guess that TE does not count as a receiver? The pats had 1 good WR that is similar to bess and dominated the league with TE play.

the pats have tom brady. the fins have a converted wide receiver who may be viable in a few years but probably won't be anything more than an interception machine who reads defenses as well as my dog.

I suppose that's still better than having Mark Sanchez. At least if Tannehill fails he may have a future at WR. What does Sanchez have in his future when he's cut from the Jets next year? Working the hot dog stand in Metlife stadium? Photoshoots for gay magazines?

Sounds more like Sanchez

Once again, if you go back and look at our stats before the "All World" Brandon Marshall arrived, you will see that we threw for more yards and more TDs without him. Look at 2008 and 2009 for example.

Brian Hartline is better then Greg Camarillo. D Bess is better then when he was a rookie. C Gates is a better version of Ted Ginn, he can catch and plays with heart.

Our TE situation is back to when we had Fasano and David Martin.

Our OL is better and Matt Moore could build on last year's good season and Tannehill might find it hard to beat him out for a year or two.

still should have left lamar for a position of more need. you just signed reggie bush and drafted daniel thomas, so they'll both be here for a while. it's not like lamar is an insurance policy bc ostensibly thomas should start over him

I'm hoping Brandon Egnew has some deep play ability down the middle. I'm worried about stacked boxes.

our lack of vertical explosion has been the problem the last couple years. I'm at least relieved Sparano took that "ground and pound" garbage to New York
