Would you go Long for Luck?

I'd keep Long and see what it takes to trade up for Jones or Barkley, if necessary.

No I would not do it. If Miami goes 0-6, I would bench Jake Long for the season so he can properly heal (its obvious he isnt completely healthy yet). With the, say, #8 pick...I would draft another QB like Barkley and use the #8 pick in the 2nd round to get an RT.

I like Luck just as much as anyone else, but he is a college QB. Nobody knows how he will pan out in the NFL. Top college QBs go into the NFL and do nothing sometimes. Miami drafted Pat White, Chad Henne and John Beck and well, look how that went. We need proper coaching, an OL to protect Luck.

No, you keep Long, you draft the 2nd best QB, and then use the 2nd rounder to get an RT. If you by any chance trade Marshall for a 2nd rounder, you use the other 2nd rounder to draft an OG to replace Incognito or Carey.
Did you just compare Andrew Luck to Pat White, Henne, and John Beck?

Sure why not? According to most people on this board, if we have Luck, we will win the next 7 out of 10 Super Bowls.

But really, IF he turns out as good as he is hyped up to be, then he would be well worth a lineman and a 1st round pick, even if said lineman is one of the best.

Just look at the Colts without Peyton Manning. No way are they win less if he were playing.

Besides, Luck would sell many tickets and many jerseys so it would be pretty silly for the organization not to do everything in their power to get him within reason.

Long/first round for Luck . . . yea most definitely. We should feel lucky to get off so light there. Since OT is relatively light in free agency next year, we probably have to go OT in round 2. Probably go after a stud RT and hope that maybe Feinga is ready by then to take over LT

Never!

Everyone knows LT's win you Super Bowls!

And now with a franchise center, definite dynasty on the horizon. If we can just spend our top pick this year on that Matt Kalil kid from USC, we might just be able to become the 2nd undefeated team in history.

With Long playing on a bum leg all last year and doing it again this year "and not looking that great" doing it, this year. Then you add in what he gets payed..........He really wouldn't be worth much in a trade, to any GM with half a brain.......That could change if he started playing like an all pro again, but as of right now he looks like he has a bum leg and won't be playing football for longer then two more years.

Don't see why it matters. We suck bad enough to get Luck and keep Jake.

Yeah. It would be a shame if it came to that, but it has to be done.

Yes. This debate has been done. What we found out was that anyone who argued the case, "you won't have anyone to protect him" flat out failed. If you don't have the QB...it doesn't matter whether he is protected or not...you will still suck!

Correct. Look how well Matthew Stafford did the first few years with no protection...

...oh, wait a minute.
