They key pick was Rodgers!
AJ Hawk, LB which I said was a key position. Damn Good Player.
Justin Harrell - Not Even on team anymore.
BJ Raji - He was a consensus pick and they needed him to solidify the 3-4 scheme on defense. A NT is key in the 3-4.
Clay Matthews - LB which again I said is a key position. They are the field generals and play key roles in run and pass defense and in the 3-4 are critical for pressure. Matthews was a steal.
Bryan Bulaga - Didn't play his rookie year much. This year has been ok but not great.
Derek Sherrod - Dude hasn't played consistently.
Key is - They are not overpaying their OT's. Jake was instantly the highest paid OT in the game as a rookie. He will get another HUGE PAYDAY in free agency or as Franchise Tag. I don't believe you can tie up that much money in an OT.
What team in the playoffs has a HIGH PRICED OT or OL for that matter.
Denver - NO
Cincinatti - NO
Pittsburgh - NO
Baltimore - NO
Houston - NO
New England - Mankins
New Orleans - NO
Green Bay - NO
New York - NO
San Francisco - NO
Atlanta - NO
Detroit - NO
So what was your point? I missed it!
Now that Mort and Schefter have reported that we want to get RG3, what would you be willing to give up to the Rams for that pick? With Jake Long coming into the final year of his contract, mounting injuries, and the Rams needing a left tackle, would you entertain this idea? John Jerry stepped in for Long this year and played pretty good, proving that a LT is important yes but not as important as people think, I'm not saying that Jerry would take over LT, we good get somebody in free agency or find one later in the draft. Maybe giving up jake would offset having to give up so many picks, it would look like this:
Jake Long
1st round pick 2012
3rd round pick 2012
2nd round pick 2013
4th round pick 2013
Rams give us: 2nd overall pick 2012-we take RG3
7th round pick 2012
No! I beleive our QB (whoever it is) needs a line or he will get hit! Jake Long is a pro bowl LT, you shouldn't get rid of Known good players for an unknown!
Cincinnati took Andre Smith in the top ten, who sucks. Denver has Ryan Clady, who was a top twelve pick. Atlanta has Sam Baker who, while not getting paid a ton, they traded back into the first round to get him. Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati were both top twenty picks in the same draft for the 49ers, so they're getting paid. They also traded back into the first round to get Joe Staley. The Giants paid a decent chunk of money for David Baas. Ravens have Ben Grubbs and Michael Oher, both first rounders. Not a direct correlation, but it does matter.
