Wow, I agreed with Dan LeBatard today!

True, but I think that Bowens has at least earned the respect equal to those on the ring of honor.

The seven toed wonder deserves plenty of respect imo.
But not the ring of honor.

Ring of Honor means you must be one of two things (for the most part)
--Won a championship with the organization
--Was a top player at your position during your era with the team (Marino..Stevenson)

Bowens is neither and isn't the exception to this rule.

You can't put everyone in the ring of honor and frankly Bowens career just wasn't good enough.

Bowens career was more than good enough. There was a huge difference in games he played in and games he did not. He was one of the main reasons Miami had a good run defense since he has been on the team. He might not have the pretty boy stats, but he did his job and he did a ring of honor quality of it.

if that was true there would be hundreds of names around the ring of honor.

Uh no, your not going to put the entire roster of a championship team around the ring.

You clearly missed the point. The one factor involved is you MUST be a great player. Either a great player who WON something. Or a great player who was tops in the league at their position. Not too many of those guys in Miami's recent history.

Other than Tim Bowens, Richmond Webb, Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas I agree with you.

The WON something is over rated. That is more about the hall of fame. Ring of honor is more of a great player with the team for a long period of time.

We are not talking about retiring his jersey, we are talking about Ring of Honor.

Troy Brown was unceremoniously cut by the pats and it looked like for awhile he wouldnt get re-signed....you didnt see a LOT of outrage by New England fans during the time he was a FA...that guy put in at least 11-12 years for the pats, played DEFENSE for them...and he got no respect...in fact he had to take a pay cut...

Actually from what I heard there was a lot of outrage from fans about the way Brown was treated and that was in part why he was signed back despite the team being overloaded with FA WR pickups.
