WR Damian Williams May Force Miami To Keep Six Receivers...

If we keep 2 QBs, there is room for 4 RBs, 4 TEs, 6 WRs, and 9 OL, which would equal 25 offensive players. On defense, 9 DL, 7 LBs, and 9 DBs, for 25, plus the 3 specialists to make 53.

Better questions is, do we even have 4 RB's worth keeping?

Because in my book, I count only 3.

You definitely keep him. This offense requires a lot of receivers to hum. You want to have depth.

I'd prefer to see Damian is the primary punt returner and Damien as the KO returner. I have not noticed if we've used Damian as a gunner on punt coverage, but that would help his cause too, and often a WR is who fills those roles.

How many receivers are going to be active on gameday?

i agree and am concerned again about our lack of depth at the position. Some teams have 3 backs better than any of ours. I don't think Philbin really cares about running the ball. Even in GB he went w a RB by committee - mostly no-name backs - and since they won a SB I guess he doesn't appreciate the importance of having good players at the position. We should have 4 RBs on the roster but I agree we only have 3 worthy of receiving a paycheck.

Willaims has earned a roster spot in my opinion. In fact both Williams have. We should only keep three backs

No team in the NFL has three runningbacks better than ours. As much as I think Philbin is only coordinator material, its quite unfair to say that he does not care about runningback. Last time I checked we signed a back that had a pro bowl season last year

If we are going to run a fast paced offense with a lot of 3 and 4 wide sets, I'd guess you'd need 5 active anyway, to keep everyone fresh. The 4th and 5th WRs would also have to play on most special teams.

I'd keep Moreno, Miller, Williams and Darkwa.

Same here but I bet Hickey has his eyes open for cuts next week. Patriots might have to cut a good one. This is where Thigpen could still make the team because he is decent returning kicks. You need a couple of those.

But back to the Williams', Pouncey and Jordan enable us to do this for 1st qtr of season. A WR will get dinged up eventually.

After the 3rd preseason game performance, no way they cut him. He will make the 53 man roster one way or another.

Wish may be granted.

More and more looks like we will only keep 3 RB's (Moreno, Miller, Williams)

Leaving us open for additional WR's or TE's

Please Lord, please!

Hartline is not suited for this offense, imo. It doesn't play to his strengths (or weaknesses).

Williams would play the 2 better than Hartline, and Gibson/Landry have the 3 and 4 well covered. We need to keep WRs with 1a or 2 upside. Which isn't Hartline.

He is a decent player who I will be happy to see them keep and not too upset if he is gone. That's just the nature of things in the NFL.

Saw your name as recent post and knew there would be a Hartline jab in there.

lol -- well at least I'm consistent. Seriously, I'm not trying to "jab" or denigrate Hartline. I just think the days of having a very limited, non-threat WR at a high level skill position should be over. Hartline puts zero pressure on Ds. DBs can sit down on his routes without paying much price at all. Williams does so many things better than Hartline already -- and a better fit in a Lazor offense.

Hartline will be replaced as easily as Bess was -- simply because Hartline is very limited: very good at a couple things, but massively challenged at other areas.

The days of paying a possession WR to do a job that someone else can do better should be behind us, if playoff success is the goal. Nothing against Hartline as a person, btw. Just get tired of the Bess's and Hartlines of the world taking up skill positions from truly skilled players.

We need to keep D. Will in case something happens to Wallace..Wallace makes a D play honest, which open up everything for everyone else..Wallace goes down, so does the safeties-- come on down --to play closer to the line..Williams negates that, have to respect his speed too.
