WR Damian Williams visits Dolphins/signs one year deal

I agree with UK, meh. If Binns is healthy then Williams won't make it out of camp...

Indeed and as we expand the roster to 90 theres going to be an awful lot of similar signings to get "excited" about

And apparently we do indeed need to get excited for a guy battling for the 6th wr slot (if we even carry six)

This definitely means forget about WR in any round.

a backup wr on a minimum contract? no he is in a battle to make the roster, this signing changes nothing for the draft

Updating the #Dolphins' WRs (8): Wallace, Hartline, Matthews, Gibson, Williams, Binns, Cone and Rios.

I will keep harping on this…with two vets dinged up for the offseason work, I think the team is looking for some steady vets to implement the new offense. Good move.

I don't agree with that, I don't think anything changes. This was an insurance move as Hartline, Gibson and Binns are all coming back from injuries. All are expected to be back in time for the season, and Hartline is expected back for OTAs and mini camps in June. However, Gibson and Binns will likely sit out those offseason workouts. Signing Williams gives them another veteran in those offseason activities and gives the team a back up plan if there is a setback in the recoveries of Gibson and Binns.

There is still room to draft a WR and put in the mix. Williams isn't guaranteed a roster spot.

I'm so afraid that our front office is thinking just like this, and we won't be looking to get a WR in this draft. Which IMO is just asinine, as this is the year to go after a WR with it being such a great draft class. Getting a top WR in this draft would be better then in any other draft in a long time. We need to be moving Hartline to 3rd or even 4th WR and get us some playmakers. Not other teams scrubs and hope someone shines later, and miss out. A turd is still a turd no matter how much you polish it.

:bobdole: No one is saying this guy is our next break out all pro WR so settle down there.

Who is say any receiver not named Watkins in this draft will be any better then Williams?

Everyone should be happy that we are upgrading the position in that we are signing a guy who had 5 TD's two years ago as competition for the 5th, maybe the 4th slot.

Could be that someone's rehab is not going as well as reported or it could be camp fodder.

You don't bring in a guy with his numbers as camp fodder. He will be given an opportunity to win a roster spot

Another consecutive bad post. It definitely does not mean that. Thanks

I want to believe you. I watched Ireland ignore a deep position in a draft time after time. I want the Dolphins to draft a receiver with high upside. If they ignore the position I will be somewhat disappointed.

Not a bad signing as far as not just staying put at wr. He is not being counted on as a major role guy so why not see what he has. I like the signing.
We still need to draft a wr at some point in draft.
