WR Odell Beckham to visit Dolphins this week

Just to add a little bit to what we are hearing about Beckham, I was listening to a Bucky Brooks podcast the other day and he said, " When compared to his teammate Jarvis Landry, Beckham is the more explosive playmaker. Beckham can stretch the field and is outstanding with the ball in hands, which makes him dangerous on those crossing routes and catch and run plays. He is dynamic and also a big time returner. In the kicking game he can flip the field and really change the momentum of the game with a dazzling return. " Brooks also likes Laundry and compared him to Anqwuan Boldin. When talking about Watkins, Lee, Beckham, and Cooks he said they all are very similar and you can't go wrong with either of them. For example, when talking about Detroit and if they should trade up for Watkins, Brooks thinks that they should stay pat and take whichever WR (Lee, Beckham, or Cooks) that they feel most comfortable with because all of these guys bring similar traits and similar production to the field.

We also need a mike linebacker who can make lots of tackles. I think that the challenge is evaluating the respective needs vs assessing the depth of talent available. There are lots of very good WRs and very few top mike linebackers who are good enough to come in as starters. But our O-line is still the biggest issue re overall team needs. If we go BPA it's probably for a linebacker, O-lineman or elite WR in the first 2 rounds, but one of these two will be an O-lineman.

I would be fine with a wideout in round 1 as long as we get a Billy Turner in round 2 and guard in round 3.

I'm leaning towards Beckam and Cooks over Lee though...USC receivers scare me.

Based on the receivers we have looked at I'm getting the impression that this is more because Lazor wants more explosiveness for his offense

regarding the Dolphins’ interest in draft-eligible wide receivers and what it might mean for Mike Wallace’s future in Miami.

One of the receivers mentioned in the report is LSU wideout Odell Beckham and the Dolphins will get some more information about Beckham this week. During an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Saturday, Beckham said that he will be visiting with the Dolphins on Friday and Saturday as he winds up a busy week. Beckham confirmed that he will visit with the Jets on Monday and Tuesday before moving on to talk to the Eagles in the middle of the week.

“It’s been a fun process,” Beckham said. “It’s been a little tough at times to be able to catch your workouts because you’re traveling for days at a time. It’s been fun to go around and meet coaches and general managers and just be able to reach out.”

Beckham also said that he has already met with the Bills, which he called a “fun experience,” and Bengals while making the rounds of interested teams. There will likely be other interest as well as Beckham is almost certainly going to be off the board before the first round comes to an end on May 8.

Beckham is a good fit for our offense, but I can't think of a scenario where he'd be my guy at 19. Wouldn't be a terrible pick, but if Lee is off the board, I'm waiting on WR.

Bluefin - you're suffering from Patrick Turner syndrome re drafting USC wide receivers. One of these days they will produce a star NFL player. Marqise Lee may be the man.

This definitely leads credence to Hickey's BPA mantra. I'm a big Beckham fan. Not only is he a playmaker with the ball in his hands, but he made an astonishing improvement with his hands. He put work in and evolved an amazing pass catching ability. That kind of dedication to improve speaks extremely well for him as a player.

Jarvis Landry is going to be better than Beckham.

Because the current stable is a figment of Jeff Ireland's imagination???

Damn, Utah, that is one hell of a mock draft you got there. i will streak naked at the oakland mall if this comes true. I mean you covered everything.

Ive said this a dozen times already, but I used to work with Odell Sr., I'd be excited to draft his kid.

his teammate landrys the better fit for us...this is mike wallace like skill set it's not what we need when we already have it

Not a huge fan of this guy, but he's worthy of consideration. If we go WR in the top half of the draft, I'd prefer Marquise Lee in the 1st or Donte Moncrief in the 2nd, which are 2 guys we've had visits with.

I think Hickey's interest in a WR is sincere and he is looking at the right guys imo.

Who says that there is a disadvantage to having 2 players like Wallace? To be honest it makes real good sense to me. O-line is a need but if there is no linemen left that is worth the 19th pick then you take an impact player. Not so sure Mosley is still there so LB is a reach. Not so sure Ebron is there so WR makes real good sense. Most people here overrate our WR group. They are good yes but there is NOTHING GREAT about them. Put impact players on the field and make your offesne explosive. There are 100's of ways to build a chamionship team.

This is going to be interesting afterall.....

i think it's smoke frankly...too much late in the process wr buzz...yeah if something falls in our laps i can see it but i don't think it's a priority...beckham doesnt make sense for us anyways...run 3 routes value up for return abilities...top 20 i would pass for sure

i sure hope if they do draft a wr they draft one that fits what we want to do and provides a skill set as a pass catcher we lack...beckham isn't gonna do that...we need more rac and run thru contact and red zone win option

I'm not defending beckham as the pick but I think there is more to him then the eye can see. Yes he is a fly guy but put him on the field with Wallace and Moreno/Miller will have a fields day. I think people are not looking at what Lazor is. He is a run guy. Look at his past and hid influences. I get the idea that the thinks he will take from Chip is the idea of spacing and the up tempo. Chip is a run guy. A lot of people forget that. Spacing and creating run lanes is something a lot of people need to consider when PREDICTING Miami's offense next year.

It will be very interesting.......
