WR Roster Watch

Hoops I'm thinking 6 wr, 4 tight ends and only 3 running backs. I would rather have three rb's on the 53 man roster and one on the practice squad.

we'll have to see the offense in the preseason for ourselves to get a good look and know what positions need more depth etc but that's an awful lot of guys to carry 13 for 3 positions...i would think 12 between the 3 would be more the going rate...i do agree though at best 3 rbs unless thiggy wins the return job...i wouldn't carry him as a wr...and we will regret if we keep damien williams as a wr...that's a waste spot even if his job is returns only...

carrying gillislee again if we do just because of a numbers thing would not be a smart move to me...that guy needs to be cut...plain and simple...i'd keep thiggy if he wins the return job as a rb over him and if you get an in game injury at rb thiggy would at least be able to go out there and finish the game off for you before i'd keep gillislee on my 53 and activate him on sundays...people are also auto cutting daniel thomas and to that i say not so fast...we didnt do anything to upgrade the power back slot in the draft or free agency...i wouldn't rule out thomas making the roster again in 2014

wildcard being this williams kid from oklahoma but outside of long speed for his size i don't really see much...you never know though with rbs...some guys get in the building and make good in year 1...i know gillislees not the guy...

plan on this team dropping a high pick on a rb in 2015...we got a lot of change of pace and run of the mill and stop gap

I would like to see Miami sign Michael Bush and let him compete with Daniel Thomas. Bush didn't do much in his short time in Chicago, but he looked good in Oakland. A trio of Moreno, Miller and Bush could hold the fort until my goes shopping for backs in the 2015 draft. Can I dream of Todd Gurley and Tj Yeldon in 2015.

Is this right or am I off on a position group...

Out of all the receivers and backs, i don't see any obvious kick and punt returners. I don't want want to waste a roster spot on Thiggy any more. Maybe Landry can do it?

I keep hearing that Gibby is still nicked. His injury was pretty significant as it ended his season. I thought the comment about keeping at least one of the taller receivers, Binns or Stephen Williams, was insightful. Book it.

Hazel and Hoskins are good propects. Everyone likes to laugh at Mel Kiper but he mentioned Matt Hazel three times as someone to watch so one of his sources clearly got into his ear about Hazel. Hoskins does fairly have a Clay feel to him and heck Clay went in the 6th round so it may not be so far fetched.

Wallace
Hartline
Gibby
Landry
Binns
Matthews

Ps Hazel

It's actually a 53 man roster truth. Now if you're saying the 48 active players each week, I doubt Miami activates all 6 wide receivers.

I was looking at active...

Did the team carry more DB's and LBs last year?

you're low at least one slot at lb they will keep at least 6 for specials i think you are low one db spot likely a safety for specials the 5 corners seems locked up and jimmy wilson who likely mans the nickle again will be kept as a safety numbers wise...4th safety may come off another teams cuts

i doubt they keep 9 on the oline more likely 8 unless thay have an auto red shirt...landry could well save you a spot if he wins the punt return job

theres only 45 active on gameday to my knowledge...

Yes Hoops eight inactive players each week.... I hope Finnigan plays the slot in the nickle package and Taylor or Aikens can man one of the corners.

We were both wrong...46

I thought I was light at DB and LB and a little heavy on the line...

As far as Landry...I think he does win the Punt Return role as well as play a crap ton of other special teams...he was dynamite on them at LSU....

so it's 46 now active??? does one of those 46 include the emergency qb??? at 46 i know you are looking at 6 lbs active for specials even if they dont all validate a spot and i think you are looking at 7 or 8 active on the oline...one swing interior player and one with right tackle abilities at least ...likely 7 if they keep more wrs active etc...i doubt you will get 6 active wrs unless ones job is strictly specials and he's an impact performer there...it's hard to do this though cause you don't know who's gonna win the gunner jobs etc right now and some guys may be just kept for specials...i could see only 3 dts active as well pretty sure we scratched a 4th dt many times in 2013

Yes I forgot they got rid of the emergency qb rule and just added another active roster spot a few years ago.

I think we keep 6 WR's this year. Given how hamstrung the team was last year when Keller (predictably) and Gibson went down, we will develop more WR's this year I think.

Wallace
Hartline
Gibson
Landry

Are making the team. Matthews has to fight for a spot, but i don't see anyone better than him at the moment, so his toughest competition may come from other team cuts.

As others mentioned, the airing of the dirty laundry and act of contrition by Matthews following a Philbin meeting is final notice, but likely means that is behind him for now.

Personally I'm hoping Rantavious Wooten turns out to be a good player, because that's a Hall of Fame name if I've ever heard one. :D

We keep looking for big WR's. If one gets cut I bet we are interested. I still have my eye on the raw small school guy Jeff Janis. I suspect the practice squad him, but if they cut him, I hope we take a flyer on h8m.

Sent from my phone, so please forgive any typos.
