Former Southern California defensive tackle Manuel Wright, who is considered the top player available in the NFL supplemental draft Thursday, was arrested in April 2003 on three misdemeanor charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.

The arrest occurred before Wright began attending USC. Agent Peter Schaffer said the charges were dismissed and doesn't think the incident will hurt Wright's status.

''All the teams know about it and it's a non-factor,'' said Schaffer, who expects Wright to be selected in the second or third round despite poor workouts.

The Dolphins have shown strong interest in Wright. They had five people at his workout Friday, including general manager Randy Mueller, defensive coordinator Richard Smith, defensive line coach Dan Quinn and two scouts, Schaffer said.

So what was the reason we are interested in him ?

he's 6'5 330 and runs a sub 5.0 40yd.

his got great unfulfilled potential and would immediately fill a need. he could be effective at eiter NT or DE in the 3-4.

Because character isn't an issue for Saban.

Sadly it is starting to look that way isn't it!? Which is weird when all we heard was he was a hard #$@ and made sure his players were good guys.

Thats just not fair. The only one I have had a problem with is The safty from noterdame. He can't punish randy yet because nobody knows exactly what and how it all happened! Boston and ricky are just low risk Possible high reward investments it would be ignorant not to take advantage of the situation. Saban knows what he is doing, we have no right to question the character of the team because it technically doesn't exist yet it is still an unfinished product.

He can still be a hard ***. Hell, he can still be a good coach.

His job is to win football games, and to bring in players to help him do that. If said players aren't exactly stand-up guys, its saban, and you fans who have to live with the reprecussions of that.

exactly... none of the guys he has brought in has caused problems since he got here.

Crowder, Roth, Boston, Ricky and Elam have all had problematic pasts and havent got into any trouble since being brought here by Saban.

Only two guys have been in trouble since Nick has been here and they are Quintin Williams, who got released, and now it'll be interesting to see what Nick does with Randy.

No it isn't starting to look like that. There has only been two incidents while Saban was a coach and one of them is gone and McMike will be fined or suspended. Saban will not put up with bad behavior like Wannny did. You got to realize that almost every HC will have players on his team that will do something bad.

Dude this isn't smack but...

How long has Saban been the coach? And two guys have already been arrested...

If he coaches for 5 years, at this pace, he'll have 20 guys on police blotters.

That is smack...

I like the Bills fans posting, guys like you and justasportsfan jazz the place up, but that is smack.

To suggest that Saban is the reason that Quintin Williams drove under the influence and that Saban is the reason that McMike battered his wife is ridiculous.

I didn't say he was the reason, I'm just saying he's had problems already.

The Williams thing he took care of, we'll see about McMichael.

Edited the post.

Who cares how long he has been a coach. Every HC will have to deal with people like Q.Williams and McMike and i think that Saban will do a fine job when he handels these situations.
