Year after year this eats at my brain. Why can other sucky teams put together great drafts and talent and put together a respectable product on the field and we just cant do it. This is a serious musing. How long must we suffer as fans? For God's sake the New Orleans Saints can do it!

yea it only took the New Orleans Saints 17 years to do it.

If you can't see that this team is getting great talent out of the draft and Saban is doing a good job rebuilding then you do not know this team very well.

How long has it been since Arizona and Detroit had a team that had a winning record? A very long time and they consistenly get top 10 picks so Saban is doing a very good job especially seeing that Wanny destroyed this team.

Excellent Post!

Bingo! You nailed it!

And no, I don't want to take 17 years to rebuild like NO did. Problem is we want to win NOW, and we don't exactly get high draft picks to build with, plus WannSpiel left this team devastated.

we had to fix our salary cap situation, which we have, and we have a good amount of room next year to add talent, and our draft picks have been great so far... i dont see what the problem is? saban has been here 1.5 years and you want the team completely rebuilt already? how?

It took a GM, his assistant, his assistants assistant to rebuild the Chargers - of all places from the Bills front office (John Butler, AJ Smith, Nix, and his cronies).

In order to rebuild, there must be no allegiances to cut your players. It took cutting Seau, Harrison, Drew, Carney, etc....

Hell, after the leaf disaster that took us close to 7 years to recover...but a good GM with an uncanny ability to draft well is the key.

I'm not sure if this franchise has ever made the decision to completely re-build. At least as long as I've been a fan, we've never made a legit effort to do so...

We've constantly been living in the "we'll be there next year" theory. Therefore, the focus is always based on moving forward with what we have, instead of starting over fresh. That's my take on the whole thing....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

The problem with Miami is not necassarily that they CAN'T rebuild. IT's that they haven't tried. It seems every year we try to plug holes and re-tool. Seems every coach thinks we're a few players away. It seems that way at times to me too. But I guess someone needs to realize that the team will need to be gutted. Eventually, even our better team components will start to break down. At this point, it will be sooner rather than later.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with a Chargers fan

Also, you have to have a coach, with a system, and the drafted players that work in the system. The Chargers have drafted *very* well in regards to what they do with the football, though they need to stop getting lazy and focus all game, every game. I think they could be serious contenders if they would stop forgetting halfway through a game that there's still two quarters to go.

Not every team is rebuilding well. In fact, I'd say there are more failures than not if you really break down the league since like 1980.

We've had 9 years of bad drafts, from an overated coach and a *******.
Those jackasses set us back, and Saban was brought here to clean up the mess, he's made mistakes too, but I won't throw him under the bus yet.
