I felt it. I was at a bar, and I felt it. It looked like almost a mirror image of what happened two years ago when Miami played the Jets in the Meadowlands.
Miami was up 21-3 at halftime, and the game ended 24-21 Jets win. The offense couldn't score, and the defense couldn't stop Vinny.
The difference this time around was two things. Our offense even though it didn't score in the 2nd half was much better this time at controlling the clock because of Ricky Williams (2 years ago it was Lamar Smith). And 2nd, just when it was a critical moment, Jason Taylor and Jay Williams came up with that sack on Vinny Testeverde.
They didn't come up with much in the way of sack numbers today, but pressure came through at critical moments today...like on the drive I am talking about after Santana got his TD....they sack Vinny and bam the whole "comeback" thing is over...its that simple. Also, when Herm decided to go for it on 4th and Goal from the 3 yard line, we had Rob Burnett jumping right into Vinny Testeverde's face as he overthrew the pass intended for Anthony Becht.
Oh yeah, and Jason Fabini was having FITS with Jason Taylor. I think he got called for holding twice against JT, and got called for illegal hands to the face once. Those are about as good as sacks.
