You Guys are Flip Floppers

I'm not too worried about the first round. It's a deep draft, Hickey likes BPA, Philbin has recently stated he also would like BPA.
Whether they go BPA or not in the 1st is not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, because there are more players and positions to be outfitted with BPA prospects in rounds 2-7. If we get the round 1 BPA, great. If we get an OLineman in round 1, Hey, also great. We need that badly.
I think we're going to come away from this draft with a lot of solid additions to the roster; I have faith in Hickey.

Lol, I like how the OP says he can't believe people want oline in the first, but then says only if it's a LT. Wtf.

I thought i explained my point pretty well but for you I'll expain it agian.... IMHO the only offensvie lineman that's worth a first round pick is a LT due to the fact that he's facing the other teams best dlineman (for the most part) every other offensive line position can be filled in later rounds.

So if you buy a stock and it goes well for a while, but things start trending down and the forecast is for that trend to continue. Are you not allowed to sell it because circumstances have changed or do you have to keep it and lose everything?

In your analogy you should get rid of the stock, but i'm actually glad you made that anology because I can use it to prove my point. Stocks trend up and down... sometimes you win with a stock and sometimes you lose but the basic concept of buying stock NEVER CHANGES.... you want to buy low and sell high just because a stock that you purchased using that philosophy didn't perform well doesn't mean that you all of a sudden start buying high and selling low. Just because you pick an offensive lineman in the 2-5 rounds one year and they dont pan out doesn't mean you should all of a sudden start drafting olineman in the first round.

Things change from year to year, and from month to month, game to game. If you aren't constantly evaluating and postioning in the NFL, you won't get better than 8-8. Everyone wants the luxury to add playmakers, but we need Olinemen badly.

I think people are changing their thinking because of the terrible drafting of ireland and i think thats a mistake. Do we need offensive lineman .... HELL YEA we do.. do we have to get them in the first round?? Unless it's a future LT i'd say no. We can find em in rounds 2 on down. First round should be playmakers.

So, with your philosophy, we should have passed on Mike Pouncey? That lineman picked seems to have worked out.

Pouncy is great..... But the question is.. what players could we have had with that pick and would you rather have them than pouncy at C? Demarco Murry, Colin Cap, Jimmy Smith are just a few names that come to mind of players that were drafted in 2011 after pick 15. Don't get me wrong.. I come from the school of it starts in the tranches.. however I just think good\great olineman cand and should be found outside of the 1st round of the draft. (Unless it's a future left tackle)

Probably because we had spent several high picks on O-line in recent years.

Then those players fell through. Now we need O-line again.

Your allowed to change your opinion after years of bad oline play. You want a flip flopper look at some of these guys who said tannehill was a franchise guy around the time we beat the patriots and now can't say anything good about him

Sounds like a 'get real' thread

And for all of you that keep saying situations change... I Know that but it shouldn't change your draft philosophy just because the person picking the players we terrible at his job. Again can anyone give me a current consistently good\great team that have needs at playmaking posisions that draft linemen other than OT in the first round? i'm not saying there aren't any.. Im just asking because i don't know of any. We need a RT but if a starting caliber RT is available and lets say a Jimmy Ghraham, Julio Jones type player is also available when we pick.... I'd much rather get the Jimmy G, Julio Jones type player and try to find the RT later because the odds of you finding a JG or JJ type player later in the draft are lower than finding a starting caliber RT. I don't care how bad ireland screwed up... I will always have this philosophy unless the evidence of the NFL starts to prove me wrong and thus far it hasn't.

I still believe that you draft playmakers in round 1 if they are there. Its well documented that you don't need allstar LT to win, just solid play across the line. You should be able to get these guys in round 2 and on if you know what you are doing. The problem is we had Ireland and he most certainly did not know how to draft OL.

If he's there ... I still want Ebron.
