Your move, mr.hickey

you guys crack me up w/ the Decker hate. if he signed in Miami you'd be telling me how great he is. The man produced w/ tim Tebow and Kyle Orton as his QBs in 2011 and has been getting better and better. Is he a #1? No but how many true #'s are out there? he significantly upgrades our offense and it's just the start of moves to improve the talent around our young, developing QB who badly outplayed your young QB in Ryan's biggest game of his career. You guys had a 2 year window to move past us, you failed and we are once again the main challenger to NE.
First off, I don't think anyone is "hating" on the Decker signing. The thread topic is suggesting that Hickey makes moves to specifically counter what the Patriots(Revis) and Jets(Decker) did. I think a lot of us don't agree that moves have to be made specifically to counter.

Decker is a good player, not sure anyone is saying otherwise. He may be a #1 in New York, but on most teams he is a #2 and on some a #3. Without Peyton Manning throwing him the ball and the coverages that Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Julius Thomas demand it will be hard for Decker to have the success that he saw in Denver. Not a shot a Decker, it is just that the supporting cast he is walking into is nowhere near what he had in Denver that helped open things up for him and mask his flaws. His bloated stats from the past two seasons don't tell the whole story, and you should know that as you constantly preach stats don't tell all. I think he is probably just a notch below Brian Hartline. Decker is a good start for the Jets, but you need more. Much more. You at least need another WR or two and you need a quarterback.

I wouldn't say Geno Smith outplayed Tannehill this past season when they faced each other. In two meetings against the Dolphins, Smith had ZERO touchdown passes and one interception. He was also benched for poor play halfway through the first meeting. If you want to compare the full season between the two it wasn't even close. Smith sucked, Tannehill played well.

Not sure how you can say you have moved past us and suddenly can challenge the Patriots, when did that happen? We both finished 8-8 last season and your team is still thin at WR and lacks a QB.

Decker's a 2, and contract reflects that. His $7.25M APY ties for 18th among receivers. If he were viewed as a 1, he'd get top-10 money.

ha ha! No.

Decker is WAY better than Hartline. Not even close.

Mike Wallace will always give Revis problems so no concern there. If Reggie Wayne is no problem for Grimes, Decker certainly won't be either. I am more concerned about the other CB spot now that we lost Patterson.

Love Breaking Bad, and all, but it's obvious that Decker is significantly better than Hartline. He's bigger, faster, more physical, doesn't fall down as soon as he catches the ball, is a RZ threat . . . What else would you like? He had 8 TD's in the season before the Broncos signed Manning. Let me know the next time Hartline totals 8 TD's in a season.

Definite upgrade for you but that's not saying much. You are going to need a #1 wr for Decker to have any significant impact.

I don't think he'll need a #1 to succeed, I don't expect Den #s from the last 2 years but he is a big upgrade for us and again just the start. we could bring in Jones, sanders, draft guys, etc... and our biggest weakness will turn into a strength.

I love the fact he (Revis) is in NE. He ties up cash, has an attitude, and although still very good he isn't what he was 4 years ago. The Pats had trouble stopping the run more than pass. If I'm Lazor/Philbin I'm creating a package of T-hill using his legs plays for the Pats. I also think it puts a guy like Tre Mason on the draft radar if he wasn't there.

what attitude does he have? he's the best player in the division now outside of Brady. That's bad news for all of us.

I give the Jets credit...... With the talent they had on the roster last year they did SUPER IMO. But let's not get beside ourselves here who has the better roster Miami or the Jets? Be honest (like you sometimes do) Miami's roster is much more talented then the Jets. Geno had an up and down year last year sometimes looking promising some time looking completely lost. So again be honest, do you really think Decker is going to be that much of a factor with Geno? Answer we don't know. Most likley not witht eh growing pains of a young QB. It doesn't matter who the reciever is. Hell replace Decker with megatron and the production would be similar. It is not Decker does not have control over his production. Geno does. Same here in Miami. Wallace was the same player that he was in Pitt. Tanny missed him a lot. Wallace did not produce as much as he should have. Same for Decker.

I think Miami had more talent last year, I think we are gaining but we also have a huge edge in coaching.

Yeah, lets all hinge on one game, to determine Geno Smith is better than Ryan Tannehill. No other body of work matters. Just one game. lmao what joke.

at no point did I say geno was better just pointing out that in Ryan's biggest game of his career he was outplayed by a guy that all of you guys think stinks(and he did stink for most of the year but he's young and developing).

There is no way he is as productive here this year as he ahs been in Denver but the man produced w/ Tim Tebow and Kyle Orton as his QBs in 2011 so it's not all the help around him though obviously it made life easier for him.

First game Geno stunk and Ryan was mediocre, I was talking about the 2nd game. essentially a playoff game for Miami, win and in. Geno badly outplayed him.

you have him confused w/ Cro. Wallce killed us in reg season of 2010 w/ revis on Hines Ward. In the title game revis matched up w/ Wallace and Wallace had 1 catch for 6 yds.

I really like Hartline, he is a good WR but he has 10 TDs in 5 seasons total, Decker had 8 w/ Tebow and Orton throwing to him in 2011.

the full picture is w/ talented weapons in year 2 playing in a system he played in since college he led his O to 7 total pts in 2 games against non playoff bound teams needing one win to get in and Geno who wasn't ready to start playing in a completely new system w/ little talent around him got better late in the year including badly outplaying Ryan in the biggest game Ryan has ever played in.

Laughing at your post....The Jets are irrelevant right now...If Miami successfully fixes the o-line they will become relevant and blow the Jets off the field twice.

The full picture is a bit more than 2 games

I agree with this Hartline moves the chains but fails in the red zone...I hope Miami adds a bigger threat.
