I have been thinking a lot about our WR situation, and just cannot sit here and believe that a pro football team is going to go into a new season with Brian Heartline as their #1 WR. I sort of believe that something may be brewing in the front office to bring in a #1. Could we trade a #1 and more pics for Mike Wallace and recoup our pick back by trading Jake Long before next years draft? I'm just using that as an example......no I do not believe that would ever happen. I just think there may be something in the works up front. Thoughts?

No I dont think Miami does make a trade..why would they trade Marshall just to bring in someone who is going to want more money than him like Wallace? Wallace wants more than Fitzgerald got....plus who do we have to throw to him right now? Matt Moore? I think Miami is going to try their best to win games this year and Moore will be the starter..but you gotta think Ryan is gonna come in sooner rather than later..We will get him some better targets next year via Fa or draft...No major trades are going to happen at this point IMO.

Idk...Maybe you should ask this question at the trade deadline maybe? Who cares what anybody's opinion is??? For all we know, Ocho may be a beast, Hartline may break out...and one of the rooks grabs 60 catches...

Until we acually see what our reciever core can do, this topic is pointless.

I think you should bite the bullet now and change your ID from "Marshall-Law"......................to almost anything else.

P.S. Make your new Madden ID, "60MinuteMan". Then when the new Madden comes out, get into a online franchise league, pick the Dolphins as your team and try to trade a 1st for Mike Wallace.

Wallace isn't worth a #1...a #2 yes, but that's it.

I definitley see us making a trade, not necessarily at the deadline though, and not for a WR. It will probably be for a depth player as we have done in the past - Tony McDaniel, Tyler Thigpen, Benny Sapp, Anthony Fasano, ect. I think Ireland likes to trade, and once the coaches spend time with players in camp, Ireland will know what he needs to bring in or ship out.

If you skim through Green Bay Packers articles you may find a small note that talks about the coaches being potentially interested in using James Jones as trade bait, because Randall Cobb is developing well and they still have Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson, not to mention Donald Driver, and they have all those tight ends they are really high on as well. There are too many mouths to feed in the offense and they think they can get a good price for Jones because he's got 2 years left on his deal at a very reasonable $2.8 million per year.

You could see the Dolphins make a play for him. The big knock on him is that he drops a fair number of balls. He's dropped a pass for every 5.5 he's caught, since 2008. That's even a little bit more than Brandon Marshall. But he's also consistently made plays catching balls that were VERY tough to haul in, so he's one of those highlight/lowlight types that way. He runs really well, extremely physical player that can consistently create separation in man coverage. I think it may be worth it to pursue him.

But of course everyone's going to have eyes bigger than their head and not want to acquire any receiver unless he's the next Calvin Johnson or that caliber. As if guys like Legedu Naanee, Rishard Matthews or B.J. Cunningham have proven anything in this league. Also people have to understand that both Hartline and Bess are holdovers from a previous offense and there's a good chance when you get right down to it one of the two isn't well suited for this offense (my opinion is Bess). OchoCinco is here for one year, if that.

James Jones is only 28 years old.

I would be very surprised if any trade is made. I don't see Philbin looking for a quick expensive solution. It's about developing the best out of what we've got. We will be utilizing Reggie Bush. There will be lots of multiple TE sets with Egnew and Clay assisting Fasano. Let's see who emerges among the 13 WRs.

I dont think so. Philbin has said ad-nauseum that he values draft picks like crazy and wants to build through the draft. I just dont see us using a 1st or 2nd to trade for a WR, which is what it would take at a minimum to get a very good WR.

This is what we do on FH....we give our opinion...

I agree with CK, but Bess is such a tremendous slot player I absolutely hate to see him go. But, the main issue here, is that he's absolutely useless on the outside. I'm not a big James Jones fan, and I think it'd be best if we avoid trading for a 28 year old when it would likely run us a 4th or 5th round pick.

Hartline will flourish in this offense. It accentuates everything that Philbin/Sherman employs. He's such a sleek route runner and has tremendous body control Im excited to watch his 70 catch/850 yard/6 touchdown year

Hopefully that is not the game plan. I agree when you say that the prospects of having Hartline as a #1 receiver is scary, but with a training camp, some of the young guys may establish themselves, or be shown the door. Roberto Wallace and Marlon Moore have been developing players for the longest. It is time to see what they can do, or just unload them. Clyde Gates also needs a shot too. The Dolphins have brought in these receivers, but they have not put them on the field. They also CANNOT TRADE JAKE LONG. A young quarterback needs his blind side protected if he is to ever develop.

I think if the right player was available at a reasonable compensation, Ireland would make the trade. We have to wait and see how our receivers look in camp and there's always the chance that young guys break out, but my guess is the coaches will be underwhelmed with the WRs.

There was probably at least some truth to Ireland being interested in DJax, so I think HE isn't happy with the WR corps where it stands. As to how Philbin feels, we'll wait and see. I don't think we need a marquee #1 type in this offense, but the addition of another RELIABLE WR would be welcome. We have young guys with intriguing athletic abilities but they need to show consistency, reliability, and excellent route-running. Jones is an interesting option, especially because Philbin will be familiar with him, but I'm not sure a WR with the dropsies is what's needed.
