If you skim through Green Bay Packers articles you may find a small note that talks about the coaches being potentially interested in using James Jones as trade bait, because Randall Cobb is developing well and they still have Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson, not to mention Donald Driver, and they have all those tight ends they are really high on as well. There are too many mouths to feed in the offense and they think they can get a good price for Jones because he's got 2 years left on his deal at a very reasonable $2.8 million per year.
You could see the Dolphins make a play for him. The big knock on him is that he drops a fair number of balls. He's dropped a pass for every 5.5 he's caught, since 2008. That's even a little bit more than Brandon Marshall. But he's also consistently made plays catching balls that were VERY tough to haul in, so he's one of those highlight/lowlight types that way. He runs really well, extremely physical player that can consistently create separation in man coverage. I think it may be worth it to pursue him.
But of course everyone's going to have eyes bigger than their head and not want to acquire any receiver unless he's the next Calvin Johnson or that caliber. As if guys like Legedu Naanee, Rishard Matthews or B.J. Cunningham have proven anything in this league. Also people have to understand that both Hartline and Bess are holdovers from a previous offense and there's a good chance when you get right down to it one of the two isn't well suited for this offense (my opinion is Bess). OchoCinco is here for one year, if that.
James Jones is only 28 years old.
