Zach Thomas left off TSN's top 100 NFL players list

Again, tackles can be a very misleading statistic. B/c one has mroe tackles does not make them a better player. Dolphins opponents ran the ball almost 100 more times than Jets opponents so he had alot more chances.
he had a lot more chances, and still missed three games and still had nearly 40 tackles more! if zack had played all the games he would've had 178 tackles or nearly 71 more than your your boy, which means if Miami was run at 100 more times than the jets, zach would've accounted for 70% percent of the tackles on those 100 runs, and by any definition that is dominating.

No that just means runners were able to get past the line and get downfiel a bit, I doubt most f those tackles were for a loss. tackles can be very misleading, don't judge a player just by tackles.

Dude...You're impossible....You've lost the argument like 5 times and you still don't get it!...Why do you think Vilma had a better year? Is it because your team had a better year? I don't know why you're comparing Vilma to Zach Thomas anyway...You should be comparing him to Crowder.

No, your only argument is that Zach had more tackles. That does not define who had the better year. zach ahd more tackles but Vilma had 3 INts compared to none for Zach and Vilma scored a TD. He also led the turnaround from a dreadful D in '03 to a top 5 D in '04, one where his D actually performed in the playoffs unlike Zach's D's which he has led.

You know, I don't think anybody here is claiming that Thomas is a great linebacker just because of his ability to pile up tackles alone, just that it's another factor in measuring his greatness along with the his ability to make big plays in the clutch, the heart of a lion he possesses, the way he leads by example and words and the fact he is the heart and soul of this defense for the past ten years.

I hope your not also going to tell us not to judge a player based on those qualities too?

Where di I say he wasn't a good player? he has been a very good player throughout his career but i stated Vilma had a better year last year and he did, I stated Zach is getting older and declining and he is. That doesn't mean he is garbage and it doesn't mean he won;t have some great moments but don't expect the consistentplayer you have seen anymore. it's not fair to him, he is getting old.

Tackles are overrated and it's ONE game! he's still produtive but he's not as good as he was, if you think he is the same player he was 5 years ago you are mistaken.

zach was ave. 11 tackles a game and would've had over 170 if he had played all his games... how is that fading? Zach may be the next Clay matthews.

Dude, when on earth did Thomas start declining?? This is all honestly news to me and if you watched him play last week - which I'll say once again you obviously didn't - you wouldn't be making comments like that. And as far as your "it's just one game" spin Thomas has kicked *** all during camp and the preseason games and it doesn't take a John Madden to see that Thomas is primed for an all-pro season and is most definetly not declining.

Look man, I admire you for coming into a lions den as a Jets fan, but you are in all honestly and due respect fast losing creditablity here by suggesting that Zach Thomas is on the road of decline, when everything since last year has shown otherwise, plan and simple.

Do you think he is as good now as say 2000?

Well...Would you say that Curtis Martin is getting old? He had a pretty good year last season for an old guy didn't he?

Not even going out on a limb... yes he will be, maybe even better. Age is highly overrated. Other than his age, how do you see him declining anyway?
