Landry Trade Idea

Yeah, and Landry takes those short routes and generates a **** ton of YAC. He's ranked top 5 in YAC back to back years.

Like I said, it's extremely difficult to be that productive from the slot position.
He's not strictly a slot WR, he plays outside quite a bit.

1. Look at his production

2. Listen to people talk about how a slot receiver doesn't warrant a top flight contract

3. Ponder

1-7 with the win versus Cleveland

That could easily be Landry getting more targets because the team was trailing and throwing more as opposed to the team lost because Landry got 10+ targets. Some stats can be very misleading if interpreted incorrectly.

Simple, he doesn't score points.

I don't care about his 110 catches for barely 1100 yards, easy to rack up catches doing nothing but 4 yard ins and 3 yard crossing routes.

He's not dynamic. He's just tough.
he moves the chains and puts us closer to scoring range, saying that I'd like to see Jarvis score more. Now if he does produce more TDS this year I worry his contract demands will be higher than what we're able to pay him

I don't mind handing a guy money who scores. If he gives Miami 8+ touchdowns then pay the man.

He's very tough, physical. He can stop quickly and make that first guy miss.

However....You left out that he tends to pile up catches in games they're getting hammered in. He's not a game changer. The way Miami plays offence and Tanny's penchant for throwing underneath, Davone Bess would catch 80+ balls in the slot and he was nothing special.

Finally the correct answer on Landry. The reason he lacks more production is because Tanny throws a lot of underneath to him, if you throw to him on the move at middle range he can destroy the middle of the field with his moves and strenght. Also, dont underestimate his ability to take away the CB on running plays.

I have a feeling with Cutler that we're going to be a more vertical passing team, and why wouldn't Landry be effective in that? He's a polished route runner, knows how to use his body to shield the defender and get in position, has the best hands on the team and some of the best in the league, and can stop on a dime and accelerate in a blink. There's no way I would trade Landry, he might even look better with Cutler than Tannehill.
