I'm really impressed early on with the Jags front 4. They are big, strong, and fast! Their offense doesn't appear to be anything special. Bortles is Bortles.

Bortles is so bad he's singlehandedly holding the Jaguars back. Jacksonville is the one team in the NFL that should trade absolutely everything -- the farm, the truck, the tractor, everything -- to move up in the draft for a QB. Or go get Alex Smith.

You can see it too. Basic throws he's missing and truly holding the offense back. As a matter of fact, Bills are selling out at the LOS because they aren't afraid of Bortles "passing"

I bet the Jags wish they had Tannehill right now. Bortles is really bad.

I remember that comparison a few years ago. Give me a break. It's not even close. Tannehill can actually hit short, intermediate and long throws with touch.

Jags even if they win this game aren't going beyond the next round. Bortles is really bad..wow!

Like any defense at some point they will wear down.

Well kind of on topic, I think Jacksonville trades for Alex Smith.

That team is ready to win now and Alex Smith would be the perfect quarterback for that football team. Keep the chains moving, avoid turnovers, take advantage of coverage breakdowns and win football games.

Blake Bortles is the rare NFL starting quarterback who is so bad that he's going to singlehandedly send his team home.

Yeah and KC and Rams yesterday wished they would have had Tannehill.

Come one. What a pathetic argument to make. As far as we know the Jags wouldn't be where they are with another QB (and that includes Tannehill).

You're right, as far as we know, the Jags wouldn't be playing this weekend with another quarterback. There's a good chance they'd have landed a bye week. :biggrin

Tannehill vs Bortles? Is that a joke?

Bortles vs a Traffic Cone is a better comparison. I give the edge to the traffic cone. Sure, the traffic cone can't even complete a screen pass, but neither can Blake Bortles.

Lol. We are still questioning Ryan Tannehill. You’re watching the AFC Wild Card Game right now? Blake Bortles or Tyrod Taylor. One of them is going to win a playoff game in a couple hours. That’s sad.

I would be tempted to run wildcat the rest of the game if I am Jacksonville.

Jay Cutler would do better than Bortles.

The fact that Bortles will likely get a playoff win today is a full argument against playoff success being the top indicator for determing the best quarterbacks.

It is. Tannehill had a great stretch last year. But he also was 1-4 as a starter. We can speculate as much as we want to if we would have made the playoffs last year or not if the injury did not happen but we will never know.

The fact is that in a 16-game season with Tannehill we have never made the payoffs much less played in a playoff game. Until he does everything is speculation.

Do we really want to speculate? I speculate that with Tannehill last year we would have not made the playoffs because we faced two of the same teams after his inury which Tannehill could not overcome in 2013 when we were 8-6 and needed only one win to advance to the playoffs and he delivered two of the most pathetic performances in a Dolphins uniform. But that is speculation as well. My speculation has historical facts though.

So as Dolfans we can speculate as much as we want to but to say that the Jags wished they would have Tannehill now? Please. Based on what?

Yeah, I just said that in the game thread over in Beasts of the AFC East. Jacksonville would honestly be better off running the wildcat. When your quarterback literally throws two uncatchable passes behind the line of scrimmage in the same series, you gotta take drastic measures.

Based on the fact that Ryan Tannehill is twice the QB that Blake Bortles is.

How did the Jags make it to the playoffs with Bortles at the helm? 3pts might win the game for Buffalo.

I am a little surprised to be honest. It’s 3-0 and neither offense could do stay on the field for an extended period of time but still their defenses are not tired yet? That’s strange.

If Jacksonville had Matt Moore on the bench, he comes in at halftime and gets an easy win. This is awful quarterback play.

If you're being really fair here then you would note that the pressure early on that the Jags were getting is already noticeably different.

    Is he?
People point out in this thread that Smith has played a few more years than Tannehill. So did Tannehill over Bortles. But experience does not count anymore?
First 4 years Tannehill: 87 TDs, 54 INT
First 4 years Bortles: 90 TDs, 64 TDs

Over their careers both are pretty even as well: 4.0 TD% and 2.9 INT% (Bortles)/2.5 INT% (Tannehill).

It is really not a fact that Tannehill is twice the QB than Tannehill is. It is a very objective observation. But I understand that.

That’s not necessarily fatigue. It could be Bills coaches that know how to adjust before half time. I know that’s also a phenomen we he haven’t seen in South Florida for a while now but I’m pretty sure it does exist.
