Dolphins Should Draft QB in First Two Rds of 2018 Draft

QB, DE, CB and WR are premium position. Many stats show in todays NFL the best teams prioritize passing on offense and stopping the pass on defense. Teams that run the ball well and stop the run well don't really change the outcome of the game. The NFL has changed and Bill Belichick was one of the first coaches to understand this.

That’s why we stay top 5 it needs to be qb or de if we are not trading out

And that’s also why if we trade out it will be one or the other a teams coming up for

They trade out I would think rb would jump to the top. Maybe that kid Nelson at guard.

I do know though that if they are sitting there top 5 and that Chubb kid is staring at them it’s gonna be a hard sell.

They loved Derek Barnett in last draft and athletically I see a similar player in Chubb except this ones in a 275 lb package

And they are gonna love that size and do have to plan for wake and branches departure.

Too bad Branch has no trade value with that contract

Yea Chubb is going to be hard to pass up, we need that type DE anyway, we already have our pass rush specialist in Harris.

If we sign William Hayes back I’d put the odds of a top pick de in the top 12 as very low unless they are just gonna ice Andre Branch and pay him $10 mil to ride pine.

They will have their 4 man de rotation if they sign Hayes for 2018

I think miamis play here finish top 5 is trade out for a team coming up for qb or de. It makes the most sense unless we don’t have a 4th de for the rota or we use that pick on a qb

They do have to plan for no more cam wake and Andre Branch both of which likely are gone come 2019. Maybe wake is still here Branch won’t be
If we go into next year with Wake-Branch,Hayes and Harris as our 4 DE's then I expect our defense to suck again with no pass rush. Wake will be a year older and he's already slowing down as it is.
Harris you would think would be better but he has one sack and 11 tackles so how much more should we expect? I like the kid and he's a hard worker but can his production go up to where it needs to be that quick? It'd be very hard imo to pass on an elite DE

Ozzy rules!!

I'd throw Minkah Fitzpatrick in there as well because the consensus is he's a Jalen Ramsey type of prospect, with the play of Lattimore, Ramsey, Heyward shut down CBs is the new flavor right now. If Arden Key test well, he will jump in the top 5 conversation as well.

Great points.

But we have a log jam at DE. Someone has to go, who's it gonna be?

Likely Branch gets paid $10 mil to ride pine. They are gonna want to bump up harris snaps in 2018.

I honestly think I would just take the bird in hand de unless the trade out offer floors me

If Chubb projects to be a 8 to 12 sacks yearly and a plus run defender 43 teams will get in line for that all day long

Cameron Jordan would be the comparision.

That’s interesting cause I thought he was a better fit as a 5 tech coming out. He’s 6 foot 5 285 which is 5 tech measurables but I think he’s made the transition to a 43 de in New Orleans of late and killing it

Jordan in a 34 fits that one gap penetration scheme

One gap penetration is miami

Yea I mean the Pro version of Cameron Jordan, but wouldn't u say that transition is easier than the other way around ? I could see Buckner making that transition if he wanted too, I don't think he'll have the same success though.
