First off W O W. I'm sorry but your thinking is so off.I think many of you are overlooking a few aspects: There is a REASON why several teams who NEED a QB, passed on Mallett. Tom Brady is not Brett Favre; Brady is the product of a system...Brett Favre WAS a system. Favre coached Rodgers to be top notch because he was just that darn good. If you put Brady on the Bills, he wont go anywhere. So having Brady coach Mallett...doesnt scare me. The Patriots are an easy team to beat, its just no team can seem to figure them out...but its obvious; theyre a passing team. If you have the top notch DB unit in the land, you can stop the Patriots anyday. As we saw last year, the Patriots were figured out by several teams. Again I say, theres a REASON why several teams overlooked Mallett. Granted, the idea of having Ingram and Mallett is very intriguing though.....but then again, who on earth is Mallett gonna pass to? Who on earth is gonna block for Mallett and Ingram? Joe Berger? Yikes! Not to mention several people said Mallett will be the next Ryan Leaf. I looked at Mallett's stats, and it amazes me that against GOOD teams, he kinda stunk.
Brett Farve was a SYSTEM ? Bull, when he was moved into a system that did not suit him he failed. When put back into a system that worked for him he had a career season.
You stop the Pats by covering receivers ? Did you not watch the SB when NY beat the Pats by attacking the QB ? When the Pats are running on all cylinders you do not stop them with pass coverage.
So if we had taken Mallett then we could not have upgraded any other position ? Why ?
Several people said ? Who cares ? I can understand if you looked at Mallett and then didn't like what you saw, but to throw all this other garbage around just mucks up the water.
I would like to have had Pouncy too, but not at 15 and I believe Ireland was trying to trade back and still get him. And he was not the only good interior lineman in this draft. Personally I was telling my brother that we should go BPA at that point and I thought Prince was a MUCH better value with that pick. Interior line you "should" be able to fill later. Especially if you really know what you are doing evaluating and coaching up a OL.Personally I would rather see Pouncey as a Guard. I reallllly liked Incognito as a Center. Now that we got Pouncey...what are we gonna do with Incognito? Move him back to Guard where he kinda sucks? Lets hope this regime signs a good OG in free agency. But Pouncey was a much needed pick, i just hope he isnt hyped up because of his brother. But he is the best OL in this draft.
Have you watched any vids of Thomas running ? Powerful ? He runs upright between the tackles. I don't see much power running in the vids I see, what difference does it make how big he is ? He may turn out fine, I hope he does and running powerfully is something he is going to have to learn. Even Ireland twice said, he was a powerful runner with a caviot, "when he runs behind his pads". Except he mostly doesn't. I believe (doesn't make it a fact) that this was a Wildcat influenced pick. I don't see anything "great" about the pick. I don't see what you get from him, except wildcat experience, that you couldn't get not making the trade and picking up 2 RB's later instead of just that 1, except for the WC experience.Daniel Thomas was a great pick. Some say the most powerful runner in the draft. 6 foot, 230 pounds. Imagine having two bruising runningbacks (Thomas and Brown), then allowing Kory Sheets to be our speedster RB. Defenses will fear the running game.
I agree, I don't think anyone should "jump the gun" thinking the 1st 2 picks were great picks either, especially about Thomas.I dont think people should jump the gun. Just because a guy was good in college, doesnt mean he'll be good in the NFL.
If Henne doesn't pan out, if they go that rout, I'm thinking this FO will not be here and rightly so. 4 drafts and this FO gives us Henne and White from the draft, unacceptable. Not even a shot at greatness. If Henne doesnt pan out, and next year the Dolphins DONT trade away their draft for Andrew Luck...i will then call this regime a failure lol.
In your opinion ? Highly debatable IMO.Overall, we got the best OL
WHo doesn't run powerfully, at least not yet, but apparently he can throw out of the wildcat.the most powerful runner
Looks like a steal. A+the fastest WR in the draft
