How about the "CONGRATULATION'S, YOUVE WON" Bull****.. I got burned bad with that today at work!

Some great firefox add-ons beyond adblock+

Consider downloading "WOT" (web of trust) which advises you both when in google and then onsite just how trustworthy the site is which you're linking to. Personally if I see it coded red, I don't care how interesting or helpful the content, I stay away.
 
Idk if it's just me but cmon whats the issue here? I never have had this problem on the board and it's more than annoying. ANYONE HELP!?@

Readers Digest version:

a) If you haven't already switch to firefox.
b) You're not done yet, now go get NoScript.
Once installed for this site Allow "finheaven.com" and "Yahooapis.com" Only
c) almost there, now get Adblock Plus.
d) Be sure you are running Anti Virus software. Myself I prefer to stay as far away from Norton or Macafreeze as I can. The reason is they are very intrusive and can cause more problems than they fix. Myself I run AVG but there are plenty of other quality anti Virus applications out there.

I got trojans and also some porn links put on my desktop from the ads on here. Not fun getting accused by the wife of surfing porn. Good times.
 
Worst thing is, these problems dont seem to be getting sorted.

You hit this on the head! Its been weeks now, and my computer still will freeze up every once in awhile (although I havent gotten another trojan). I mean I have been thinking about joining VIP for awhile. But like someone else said before, originally if you signed up you wouldnt see the ads, so than more ppl signed up (I assume). Well what garentee do we have that rules wont change again? And you will have to pay for VIP Plus or we will once again get bombarded with popups?

Plus, if I was a new comer to this sight and got hit with all the pop ups and what not, there would be no chance in hell I would pay for VIP. It drops the integrity of the site down a "notch" or two (IMO).

I understand the site needs money to run. But isnt there a way you can filter these pop ups so they are safe for everyones PCs without being forced to change the way we browse the internet?
 
this site is loaded! I have a very tight machine and it rings like a fire alarm every time I come in here.
I may have to find another place to surf.. maybe that the whole point..hu
 
The ads bad, but the spyware(?) is getting out of control!

I'm not making this thread to focus on the ads that cover the right corner of every first post, that speaks for itself how bad it is...

But I keep getting re-directed to junk websites and sometimes it asks "are you sure you want to redirect from this page" which is not supposed to happen, leading me to believe I'm getting spyware or something...

I understand the site needs to make money but the ads could easily be moved an inch or two to the right, not covering up the post, and something needs to be done about this spyware! I'm worried about visiting this site these days..
 
I agree, took me a long time to get this post in as I was redirected 5 times.
 
I suggest downloading AdBlock Plus if you're using Firefox. That's what I've been using, got rid of all the ads.

cool, thanks man that was quick and easy; I just hope I stop getting redirected to spam sites, but I can actually read the whole first post now! :woot:
